They need to get John Ferguson calling the games again via AI !! Same goes for Sid Crocker.
Wish I had a copy of it, but John Ferguson did a segment on his TV sportscast on me in 1969 about an upcoming skeet shoot. I was 11 years old.

John Ferguson had the best voice for football of all of them, from JC Politz thru to Chris Blair. Go back and listen to the end of the '72 Ole Miss game or the win over Notre Dame at Tiger Stadium. Ferguson had a great, resonant announcer's voice, and when he raised it you knew it was for something special. When a pass missed or something untowardly happened, John had a way of conveying the pain and wincing.
Doug Moreau was an excellent color man for years, but as he got older it seemed he stopped doing his homework and he wasn't adding anything to the broadcasts. God bless him.
The current gang with Chris Blair (who is terrific), Jacob Hester and Gordy Rush might be our best ever from an overall standpoint. I think it would be even better if Gordy and Hester swapped places, with Gordy going to the booth to help Chris. But those ex-players like it on the sideline, I guess.

Well from and OLD LSU '69 graduate and one that's been listening since 1958, I think it's in this order, radio guys John Ferguson, Jim Hawthorne, Doug Moreau, and stadium announcer Sid Crocker!

Completely agree, we don’t know how good we’ve had it. Best PA voice I’ve heard in any stadium.
You've obviously never heard of Sid Crocker

Doug Moreau
Sid Crocker
John Ferguson had a great voice but I didn't think he was a good play-by-play announcer. But his was the radio voice of my childhood.
