Patience for our new football coach
nope. Lane's getting paid a fortune and there's no honeymoon. We should be in the playoffs.

The old days of needing years to rebuild a roster through multiple recruiting cycles are long gone. With NIL and the portal, it can be done overnight.

Are you familiar with the national champion last year?

It just pains some of y'all that there are people who really do enjoy women's basketball, despite your psychological discomfort with it. Some of you need some professional counseling
don't confuse me with some of the other posters. I don't deny that some people enjoy WBB. I've got no problem with that at all.

I merely said that I think there's zero chance that 18,000 people actually attend every home game for the Valkyries.
quote:

The Valkyries officially set the WNBA record for most total fans at home games, with 397,408, outpacing Indiana’s 349,313, also from this season. The Valkyries also averaged a league record 18,064, with the team selling out each of its 22 home games this season.
Average attendance is typically calculated using the total tickets sold or distributed, not the actual number of people who passed through the turnstiles. This figure includes season tickets, group tickets, and complimentary tickets, regardless of whether the holder attended.

If the Valkyries truly averaged 18,000 people in the arena, then kudos to them.

But I'd bet every dollar I have that this number is inflated. Just like any metric, it depends on the definition and how it's calculated.

People white knighting for him was a low point on the rant. But I guess he just represents the majority on here so we shouldn’t be surprised.
yep.

The question I would ask of posters is: if the situation was reversed, and this was an Ole Miss fan sitting with a bunch of LSU fans, and the Ole Miss fan did what the LSU fan did, what would the posters say then?

Of course, we all know the answer, because so many on this board are blinded by P&G glasses.

I bet all those owners who have to start paying million dollar salaries care!
and the WNBA predicts they'll lose $700 million over the course of the new deal.

If not for the NBA's heavy subsidies, the WNBA wouldn't exist.

t's the white knighting, saying he shouldn't be throwing punches at people, that I don't understand.

There's not a poster here that wouldn't be throwing bombs after getting a drink thrown at them
uh, I'd like to think that all mature adults wouldn't throw hands, even after getting a drink thrown at them.

Have more self control than the idiot who threw the drink, and de-escalate the situation.

He’s already won five times on the PGA Tour at 29 years old.
He closed on Sunday those five times.
Or maybe you’re talking about occasionally not being able to catch the greatest golfers playing the game in the final round?
I'm well aware of Burns' success. And I'm very happy for him and hope it continues.

I'm talking about majors, with respect to closing on Sunday. Burns is among the greatest golfers in the game and has been ranked in the top 15/20/30 for the past 5 years, and has been on the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup teams.

Let's put you out there in the 4th round at Augusta with a set of clubs playing against the world's best.
good grief, man. No one on this board is saying we're as good as Burns. Posters are just commenting on Sam's inability to close on Sunday.

It's the radio. It's no longer relevant.
exactly. Who listens to any of that garbage? It's a waste of time and energy.

I hope something is done about nil/transfer portal soon.
yep, college sports is broken.

what a moron
why do you think this poster is a moron???

He's absolutely correct - revenue isn't profit.

And this isn't meant to be negative toward Shep. He was a great guy when he was here and we all knew he was preparing for life after the NFL and he seems to be doing very well.

But revenue isn't profit.

Don't be so sure of this. The committee loves to put the screws to LSU every chance they get
good lord, I'm so tired of the "LSU is a victim" mentality.

I remember listening to that game on the radio in my dad's car as a 6 year old.

And I also remember the nationally televised game the next year when LSU won 28-8.

Incredible memories for a young Tiger fan!

It's shocking that people actually believe that a players performance on the field is tied in any way, shape or form to the number on their jersey.
it's shocking that you actually believe that people actually believe that a players performance on the field is tied in any way, shape or form to the number on their jersey.

When people say something is cursed, they don't literally believe that. They just notice the results.

Correlation doesn't imply causation.

let's not copy Ohio State, which often refuses to even say the name "Michigan." Instead, it's "that school up north."

It's childish.

We could keep 18, but I don't feel strongly either way on that.

No one was forcing anyone to play college football before but if you did you played for free at least by rule
they didn’t play for free. Players got their entire college education paid for, and got to use billions of dollars worth of facilities, coaching, training, nutrition, tutoring, and massive exposure under the university’s brand. That’s extremely valuable.

You think Lew Alcindor traveled across the country from NYC to Westwood because he liked the weather?
exactly. Everyone with a brain knew that Wooden paid players (more accurately, had bag men do it and turned a blind eye), and Alcindor is one of the prime examples.

Same reason we can hit 3s consistenly from half court or more routinely see people run 4.3. Athleticism, practice, and the belief that you can do so. It just took someone running a 4 minute mile and then boom. Ton of people did it.
I fully understand that athletes constantly improve and that records fall. But that usually happens in small increments.

But we're in a world now where seeing guys routinely kick a ball 75 yards (or more) on kickoffs, when a short time ago, it was a stretch to kick 60.

FGs from 55 yards are expected, and those FGs don't just eek over the crossbar - they easily clear and would be good from much farther.

That's a 25% improvement in a short time, which can't be rationally explained by weight training and practice.

There has to be another contributing factor. A change in the ball is likely.

Much like baseball - HRs exploded a few years back with different bats and balls.
quote:

This happens prolly 15 times during pre game warmups..
60 yarders aren't a big thing anymore. Hell, on kickoffs, kickers routinely kick the ball out of the end zone, which is 75 yards.

Serious question - why is this happening? Maybe kickers have stronger legs due to training and conditioning, but 20 years ago a kicker was lucky to kick off 60 yards to the goal line, and a FG of 50 yards was fantastic.

Have the balls changed? Are they inflated more? Has their shape changed somewhat to give them more hang time?

Seriously, there's got to be a reason for the drastic change in kicking distances.

Any thoughts?
