Hawthorne is dreadful to listen to in a basketball game. 1) its too fricking fast for him and 2) he's the most negative person ever

Yeah, I am one of those weird dudes that is just as happy listening to softball or womens's basketball as I am listening to football.

Jordy is not a "play-by-play" guy though...I am not sure he could do that on radio. Color maybe...
PWright has been doing the women's games forever...that seems like the logical choice.

Jim Hawthorne is a good guy. Who has not slipped up at work and caused an error ? Jim puts in a lot of time studying and preparing for games in three different sports. Plus...think about all of the travel he must do as well. If someone else thinks they can handle all of those duties, then contact Joe Alleva and apply for the job. Jim will always be my voice of the Tigers ! Very professional. His human nature takes over when the tigers are playing bad..but we are all like that at times. He bleeds purple and gold..like no other. Thanks Jim for all you have done !

I've never heard a single person bash JH until now. Either I hang with the wrong people or we are just hearing from the loud minority. Also this is the same basic argument for or against certain athletes. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side...

I don't mind Hawthorne, I can't stand his co host Doug on football games. LSU will make like....and incredible pla and he'll say "Well that was just lucky execution by LSU. The other team really was playing better is is a much better team then LSU."

I'Ve listened to some other college play by play guys and JH is better than any I've heard.

Right. I like Hawthorne a lot, and am not yet ready to trade him in on a different model. Remember, different means different, not necessarily better.

Hawthorne's main problem is that he anticipates what will happen on the field and when it turns out to be wrong, he has to go back an correct himself. Very annoying.
