I think you could throw in UGA and UT/OU. However, I think our conference strength trumps tOSU being in the argument. You could discuss UT and OU, but their post season resume isn't quite on the same level as the USC, LSU, and UFs. UGA couldn't be there in the end because of a lack of a NC and the fact that they don't have a better resume than LSU or UF.

I think 2 NCs trumps a long period of above average.

I agree. However, when the question is what was the best team of the decade, it has the implication of a requirement of consistency.

um...no. i was merely pointing out that we have the most BCS wins and the best BCS winning PCT. When a team preps for a season, they don't say hey, lets win 10 games this season. They say hey, lets win the @#$%^&* BCS National Championship.

so you are picking your stats, and I am picking mine. I just happen to think mine more directly address the question.

I don't think we disagree. I am just saying that USC deserves to be in the discussion (as does UT, and Ohio St.). My whole argument was based on the comment that it is only between LSU and UF.

you both have solid arguments, it's hard to pick a side. according to your stats UF finishes right behind SC and LSU, and that is where I would have them, not according to what the idiot reporters say.

I have no problem admitting that i am biased towards the SEC. When USC can make it through a whole season without losing to the worst team in the PAC-10, maybe then i'll start respecting them.

I don't think that decade winning % is the only stat worth looking at. I think that you should also consider NFL talent, championships, heisman and other individual honors winners... I just don't agree that championships alone defines it.

That is what makes sports great, it is all fodder for endless hours of discussion.

but i will argue my arse off that we should be in the discussion with florida and florida only.

And you'd be wrong. USC's decade >> Florida's decade.

well then if that is what you believe, SC is def Numero Uno, Tebow may have won a heismann at UF, but as a program I still say they are slightly behind LSU, LSU using your assessment has sent more and better athletes to the pros than Florida.

I totally agree. Conference championships, BCS bowl championships, Heismans, 1st round draft picks, All-Americans, etc... should all factor in.

bottom line is Florida and LSU are the only 2 teams this decade with 2 BCS championships
LSU blew it last year with the horrific performance. We won't be considered a dynasty unless we win another NC this decade.

naw, don't think so, like I said earlier UF IMO had just as horrible a season as them the year before, and LSU doesn't lose two of those games if not for bad coachin.

So if a team wins 2 championships in 10 years, and has losing seasons the other 8, they are the team of the decade? Sounds like you were a big John Brady fan.
