Elite teams don’t worry about hiring coaches that may leave or may not leave in a year. They hire the best and figure it out if it happens

Honestly think, he's just looking for leverage with Cincy. Hopefully I'm wrong, but thats generally how it goes, when you want someone so bad.

I think the LSU D-Coordinator is a great step up for Freeman, and he's young enough that he probably won't get any really good head coaching offers anytime soon. One or two years as an elite SEC Defensive Coordinator is probably about as good an offer as he's going to get right now, unless he wants to take the Urban Meyer route and go coach in the MAC. Urban got his start at Bowling Green, a decent school about 40 minutes south of Toledo with one of those 20-30 K type of stadiums.
The only variable is the UC job. He might have an inside track to that if Fickell is headed out. I doubt Fickell leaves, though.

Combine that with the fact that we will be doing it for the OC position as well. We need both hires to work, not just getting one. Having a great defense on a losing team will only give more incentive for that DC to leave.

Agreed, but so is Bama. Just need those top 3 recruiting classes to keep rolling in and keep the seniors and we can do the same.
