Agreed.....but here on the rant....if you're not batting at least 950 , you're a failure.

You do realize we took a huge hit with both Von Rosenberg and Colvin signing. Also, Watkins is included in the class and before he got hurt I would say he was contributing. The fact that there were only two positions up for grabs (three if you want to include first) doesn't allow much room for those freshmen to step up.

This is the key. Nola and Hanover are not going to be overtaken by Katz. I think Katz doesnt fit well at 3rd, otherwise he would have gotten a shot. Edward is getting his and doing well be Dishon was flat linning.

The pitching has needed help, and JR and Lasuzzo have done well. Reed, not so much. I think well be fine with these guys.

Forrest Garrett in my opinion should have been redshirted this year. The staff tried to bring him back as fast as possible and he only threw 4 innings.

is he injured right now?

All I can say is he's not 100% at the moment. So don't count on him later in the year. Hoping that once he rests it this summer he'll be good to go for fall ball.

I don't know the rules on redshirting in baseball but maybe Garrett could get a medical redshirt

Excuse me but who died and made you coach of the year or a player that was recruited because of his athletic ability? If you can do a better job, then get your high school arse out there because apparently, none of you idiots ever played sports. The LES MILES of baseball? What about THE a-hole of the rant? BTW, I'm an old guy who actually attended LSU. Where in the frick did you actually go to college?

Chris Cotton...2011 CWS Most Valuable Player :)

I don't think it will happen, but think about the story there. A walk-on barely made the team as a freshman. Wasn't even in the programs freshman year. 2nd year helps LSU win in the CWS. ESPN would love it!

Oh wait.. they hate LSU :( Nevermind.. Maybe SI would pick it up.

Any doubt it's way worse than the class from last year?
Or how about it isn't as good as last years great class. When you have two starters, a shutdown closer and a utility infielder playing as true freshmen for a national championship team, it is an awesome class if nobody else pans out.

There are great players in most classes in every sport who didn't play as true freshmen. It is way too early to discount any one of these guys, much less the entire class. You also should look at the entire class and not just freshmen since two of the biggest signings are sophomores. Just like you can expect this class (of FR) to be supplemented by newly signed sophomores next year.

I think fans are taking for granted the classes Mainieri had in his first two seasons.

07-Ranaudo, LeMahieu, Ross, Landry, Gibbs, Bradshaw, Martin, Verdugo, Gaudet, Jones, Clark, etc...

08-Nola, Mahtook, Hanover, Dozar, Didier, Matulis, Ott, etc...

The 07 class might go down as one of the best ever at LSU. The 08 class has produced 4 starters in only their sophomore years coming off a NC season along with a weekend starter and all-american closer.

This 2010 class has the potential to be as deep as the 07, it's that good.
