I didn’t find it predictable. We did run run pass twice by my count in which the drive didn’t end in a score.

i'll take my chances with him back there over giles, giles is slow as shite

If he had the speed of former return men like Tre white, TM7, PP, OBJ, etc he'd have broken 2 for big gains yesterday

Kirklin is way faster than Giles

I think speed is overrated in regards to retuning punts. It’s more about dodging that first tackler. You don’t have to be super fast because everyone is running at you full speed. You have a head start, but you just have to be decisive.

I understand Giles being indecisive but I simply think they don’t trust anyone else to field the ball without turning it over.

Hated the call on Burrow’s fumble though it was a nice play. OL and RBs were eating that drive. I’m all for throwing on first down but we could have really established ourselves physically by keeping it on the ground and pounding it in. Only real call I didn’t like. 2 point play was beautifully designed but well defended.

Sometimes our personnel is a glaring tell. Curry checks in...run. Lanard...pass. We’re forcing touches. (Giles) That’s what September is for.

D will have better days. Ensminger gets 3 good defenses at home now. No holding back.

Time to see if Netherley can return punts.

They need to put all other RBs on ice besides CEH & nick

Jet sweeps to Wr are fine

Experimenting with PR, I just don’t know. Sometime early in the game or in a non pressure situation, maybe

I thought we should have thrown it a bit more, but the overall execution was horrific. Efforts to slow down the rush make me think we're poorly coached. The screens were blocked terribly. Our WRs are so soft blocking.

As for Burrow, he threw the ball well, but his overall awareness and presnap reads left alot to be desired. You cannot fumble there. They were sending more than we were blocking. Same thing happened again later that you pointed out.

In a game that ultimately could have been decided by a FG, two Burrow turnovers are a big deal.

I thought they screens outside of the 1st one to Giles when he got ran down were successful.

Jefferson/Moreau/Brossette all had one that went 10+ yards

Giles & Jefferson both got 6-8 yards on first down on others

Burrow does not feel pressure well. Will agree with that.

Guess I'm referring to the outside screens. The bubble stuff and some of the RPOs get such shitty blocking. I'm not sure if we've been spoiled with good downfield blocking in the past, but I notice it more now than ever. The Giles one was particularly bad.

The play calling on the whole was just so hit or miss, regardless of execution. We had nothing to stop the rush. We would run on first and second knowing we can't block on 3rd and long long enough.

I was surprised we didn't see max protect with one or two routes more often early in the sticks.

Ultimately our biggest issue offensively all year - a mediocre to bad running game - was the biggest issue. We couldn't lean on the run when they were blowing up passing plays.

I haven't rewatched any of it yet to be separated from the excitement of real time action. But some of my broad thoughts.. a little bit more in reference to the year as a whole than specifically yesterday's game.

There's a few guys I wish we had from last year's offense who'd really complement what we're trying to to.

~DJ Chark. Drake Davis may have been the plan to be our vertical threat but without him, it seems Justin Jefferson is pigeonholed into that role and while he's a fine player and has done well this year, I'm not sure he's the ideal guy as your deep threat. This is an offense that's really yet to take many vertical shots...I just don't think we've seen an emergence of a guy who can fill that role like Chark did.

~An elite level running bace. We've been pretty spoiled by the likes of Guice, Fournette and Jeremy Hill. I like Brosette and CEH as the primary rotation. But we're sure missing the talent of the last several years. Joe Burrow paired with Guice would have really been something. Not knocking NB and CEH but they're just not the big play threats to change the game with one carry that were used to

Does our “HR hire” of an OL coach catch any heat for such awful blocking Earl?

They need to be better for sure. It’s still been a great hire considering how many lineups we’ve had to play. When we see some continuity is when we’ll start to see consistency. Their pass rushers are legit

Yeah, I'm liking their development. The others haven't given us much.

I would like to see more quick passing game. Sullivan and Anderson have a nice advantage with their size.

Why aren’t you acknowledging the fact that on 3rd and long Ensminger went 4 wide with all 4 running slants?

We've owned teams in quick slants, yet we only run it when it'd absolutely necessary. It never seems to be a proactive play call, so to speak.

It’s not just the OLine. It’s the DLine too... One hasn’t blocked well and the other hasn’t gotten pressure. That makes it very difficult for skill positions on both sides of the ball.

The WR’s have a bunch of drops, but with better oline blocking we create better opportunities. I get the oline has been hurt, but what’s up with little to no pressure from the defense? Why did we stop letting Delpit tee off? Just the situations?

It wasn't even slants. It was like 5 and in. That play call was atrocious. I remember it vividly. No one sniffed within 2 yards of the sticks.

I mentioned it in my original post. What do you want me to say

I understand the premise, but when it doesn’t work it looks terrible. Sean Payton has had success running that play in his tenure with the Saints.

Giles should def be our “safe” PR

Forgot to mention i liked incorporating some jet motion presnap. Hope we keep it in the plans.

I really like CEH as a runner. Dude refuses to be tackled, always seems to gain extra yards. I'd really like to see screen passes to him featured more prominently. Everybody from the o-line to Burrow seem to be getting a lot better at running screens. In the early games, the blockers struggled to get out ahead of the play and Burrow wasn't accurate in getting the ball by the pass rush. Several tipped balls.

As I mentioned in my last post were missing a vertical deep threat to stretch a defense. If we can find that guy, I really like the makeup of our WR corp. 2 big bodies in Sullivan and Anderson to use in the middle of the field, a sharp route runner in Jefferson, pair them with a deep threat and you've got something. Maybe more McMath at TE?

You also said we were doomed by drops but in your notes I don’t see where any drops were listed other than the last drive

LE I know you like O and you have been defending him and his staff since he’s been hired but he and ensminger sucked yesterday

O coached scared and Ensminger made no adjustments after UF adjusted to his original gameplan by bringing pressure
