Was awesome to see him come in and dominate today.

I was so happy to see him back and having fun. Missed his personality last year

His edge was a great addition to our late season run in 23. I know we managed without it last season, but it sure was good to see him get out there and turn it loose today. He looked really loose and confident.

This pitching staff has a stratospheric ceiling if it really comes together and Guidry is definitely a key part of that.

Love the competitiveness of Gavin Guidry. Need his experience and confidence in high leverage situations. Maybe lose the f-bombs after getting the hitters out. Umps may get tired of seeing that.
Keep on attacking the zone Gavin. Tigers need you!

I can see why they were thinking starter with him going into last season, hes got that stuff

While that’s true, it’s great to have that kind of guy out in the pen where he can just let it rip for 2-3 innings, or close the game for you. He’s got the mentality to go out and put out a fire or handle the pressure to bring a close one home. Not everyone has that and it’s a particular skill.

The dugout's welcome for him when he came off also was special.

Was in right field when he came in…it felt emotional. Maybe it was me. That yell he did after his third K…. Just really happy for him.

Maddux has multiple times with the cubs, he could hit 96 when he wanted to but never felt like that helped him and felt like he would get injuries if he did it too much.

I’ll anyone that brings up maddux is low iq. He was well above league average for FB velocity and for much of his career velo was measured at the plate or 10’ in front of the plate so he would measure 2-4 mph higher today where now it is measured directly out the hand

Now don’t mistake this…velo is up across the board and has been in the statcast era and since stalker was introduced in 93 and became the gun of choice in later half of 90s. Even in the Hawkeye era we know it’s up

Anyone that uses maddux as an example ever is a low iq frick yard.

TLDR:

1) if it was so easy to make the ball move 24”+ then we would see more of them. How many Greg maddux have you seen since him? He was a 1 of 1

2) Greg was well above league average velo wise at the time

3) the guns measured different back then
