Anyone that thinks last nights broadcast was done well needs to listen to a quality broadcast of a basketball game, it seemed at times that they could not see the game, did not know who had the possession arrow, Chris Johnson Fouls out (no he didn’t)that’s the end of regulation (no it’s not 2.8 seconds left) etc. and much much more.

I listened to him call the GA-LSU bball game last week and he was horrible. That other dude that calls the game with him with the 'kid's voice' kept trying to interrupt him and correct him, and Jim would just cut him off.., After awhile the kid's voice guy would just give up and not say anything.

Also, I'm conflicted with my beliefs on Hawthorne, I'm usually a fan of the guys playcalling, but even I have to admit last night was bad. Maybe Jim's getting too old for the game. I just can't imagine pbp without him.

it is hard when at State, the radio announcers are placed next to the bench to where when Trent roams around he sometimes in completely in front of them so they cant see whats going on. They cant see through people and they arent going to tell Trent "Hey, Move, I cant see"
Last night wasnt a terrible job by them. I think many of the people on here look for mistakes, dont enjoy the game as it is, just so they can get on in the morning and blast someone for mistakes in their job.

Ok, so I do football announcing so I have a tiny bit of perspective.
I like Hawthorne but he is at times tough to follow but that's part of what I like.
First, the Jack Hunt thing.. give me a break, it's what he thought he saw get over it.
Often times he just talks before he's certain and that's b/c he's into it. Not b/c he's a dumbass.
He sometimes sounds negative but only to keep himself from getting his hopes up too much at times. He wants LSU to win and is heartbroken when they might lose.
He is part of LSU

more hawthorne threads...I think Hawthorne does an awesome job...I mean have you heard some of the other sec radio announcers...THere a joke! Sounds like a couple of rednecks...Why after every single lsu football, baseball, basketball game does a ranter have to post a stupid hawthorne thread...Get it over it...
