With a strong 6 foot 4 frame, the LSU second baseman/shortstop is pure projection at this point in a less than stellar sophomore year. LeMahieu began the year playing shortstop, but his range and arm strength were found severely lacking, forcing a move to second base. If his move off of shortstop wasn't bad enough, scouts are finding that he might not have the quickness or arm for second base, either. His footspeed is subpar, and his throwing motion does not lend itself well to turning double plays. That will limit his potential significantly in the future if forced to third base or the outfield, as LeMahieu has not been putting up the power numbers necessary for those positions. Scouts have commented that his swing has gotten too long, and in combination with his defensive woes, LeMahieu's draft stock has fallen well out of the 1st round. Any team that drafts him most likely believes his long frame will produce leverage in his swing, and that he will be serviceable at second base. There still remains the possibility that he might not sign if he falls beyond the third round.

thats a horrible scouting report, wherever it is from

i think the throw that went over th head was his fault, why was he running toward 2nd base with nola and the runner runnjng to him.

I have seen several similar. It's becoming the rule rather than the exception.

While LeMahieu may not qualify as small or exceptionally quick, and he refers to his arm strength as average

a) most scouts say his arm strength is lacking

b) the dude is WAY taller than a prototypical 2B so of course his footspeed will be slower than ideal.

c) i think it takes more arm strength than you think to take a ball from across your body and rocket it to first...

the thread was about Helenihi, i read several posts about his arm not being that good, the LSU coaching staff says he has a ''cannon of an arm
''
, good enough for me

There has been posts throughout the year, some saying Helenihi did not have an arm. I mean, have you even watched the kid throw, in person, at one of the games. Especially last year, he made quite a few throws that were just plain nasty from right field. I don't believe he has a better arm than Nola, though. We should be talking about Nola and how clutch he has been in the postseason.

also, and it wasn't his fault, but the throw that went over his head in the rundown on friday night would have prolly hit helinihi in the chest

this is the one thing that bothers me about his height.

I said the same thing when nola tossed it.

For nola to get on the same plane with hanover at realese Nola would have to have squatted about a foot or two.

It is from churchofbaseball.com. Lester, we agreed to disagree months ago on DJ's arm and we still disagree.

Yes, we'll be there. Not good timing for a long trip, having just returned from a week in Yosemite for my sister-in-law's wedding (O's sister). First Regional I've missed in at least 15 years, but it was fun. At least I was back for the Super. Where are you staying? Have you been before?

yeah i heard about the wedding...we're staying at a Quality inn about 4 miles from the stadium. Looks kinda shitty, but it was cheap

and nope, have never been. Always wanted to go. USM made it so my brother and i decided it was finally time to go.

That will work fine. You won't be at the hotel much anyway.
