But what is this really saying??? You could pretty much say this: Insert college or high school QB name here>>>>>>>>>>>Last Year's QB's
so did you hit the panic button last yr?

In regards to the QB's.....yes. But in all actuality, it was hit the season before (or even two seasons before). We all knew our deficiencies at QB last year. The team as a whole got a lot done without great play at that position (almost imposible when you reflect back on it!).
I expected more from Mettenberger. He still has plenty of time to right the ship....I just thought he would have it together by now. The competition gets a lot tougher from here on out. Thus far, you can't be confident with him going into the meat of conference play. But, he's just a kid.....basically a freshman playing with the big boys.

Metts is in his 5th start looks like it. Plus his WR last night dropped his frist few passes that were on the money that usually makes a young QB press more to make sure the WR can catch the ball
His pocket awharness needs to improve but so does the OL. Quick Slants would help
All the TO have not been Metts fault. Last night he should have tucked the ball and taking te sack. But he still learing.
People need to quit expecting Drew Brees

He's still 1000 times better than what Lsu had the last 4 years
^ This. He also seemed to play a whole lot better after tripping over his own feet. 5 of 8 for 124 yards and a TD. Much better accuracy (minus the absolutely horrible pass to the wide open Russell Shepard), better yards per attempt and ypc.
Hopefully him tripping over his own feet will bring a little humility and that he has to play up to his potential and stop lollygagging around.

Hit the panic button on Mettenberger....BIG TIME issues with our QB. Poor accuracy (very concerning) Poor awareness (concerning) can't read a corner blitz to save his life Poor ball security (extremely concerning) Staring down receivers (will cause INTs vs. SEC teams) Poor leadership qualities All of these points have to be addressed for the offense to take off. Whether it was the media and fans overhyping the kid or my own personal belief that Mett could be the "missing link" to a balanced, unstoppable offense, expectations for this kid have to be readjusted. Instead of thinking Mett could win us a few games with his arm (if need be), we have to go to the "game manager" mode. Hope that he can make enough throws to keep the team semi-balanced while not making the glaring mistakes (turnovers). I will say, however, Mett is not getting any help from the coaches. The offense is predicably vanilla with little imagination. With the abundance of skill talent on offense, you would think the staff could figure out a few mismatches out there. Instead, the Tigers run two man routes with no dump-off outlet. Gotta get creative to help the kid out!!! And I know folks will chime in about the line.....a valid point. Faulk is missed and the line as a whole has to do better.....but there were times last night where Mett had 3-4 seconds to throw, yet couldn't hit his target against inferior competition. Not good. Maybe the step up in competition will do good for the Tigers and Mettenberger. A little more focus might be just what the doctor ordered......or we could be in for a long conference stretch.
I concur completely on all points.

Does anyone think it would have been wise to sit Mett a series.....sort of like a punishment, but more of a "settle down" type of move? I think it would have caught his attention....and possibly sharpened his focus.
Of course, Mett likely has a fragile ego....so Miles must handle him with kid gloves. It worked with those other two clowns....err, QB's!
I hope Mett and the team really focus in on the Gators now. No distractions, don't read the paper or message boards, just handle the game plan. Oh, and here's to hoping the game plan is a little more creative too!!!

I dont understand why everyone thought he was going to come in this year and throw for 4000 yards and 32 td's
Posted on 9/30/12 at 9:25 pm to sosaysmorvant
Nah...I think we can run whenever we want. I wish that we were a little more creative though. If we push an offense similar to last year, minus the option, I think we'll be fine because the passing game will open up. Still trying to figure things out and we've done it.
Posted on 9/30/12 at 9:26 pm to sosaysmorvant
I still think he's going to be awesome. He's five games in to his first season.
Posted on 9/30/12 at 9:28 pm to sosaysmorvant
He needs to protect the football and develop some pocket awareness. It's only his 5th start. The expectations for him were way out of line. Our offensive scheme has him behind the eight ball a bunch. If we had better play calling and pass protection it would make a big difference.

Really? 1000 times better, see me after the next 2 weeks...
Posted on 9/30/12 at 9:41 pm to sosaysmorvant
What concerns me is that he is not a 18 yr old freshman. He did well in juco. What the hell happened here? Probably had better protection in juco but he stares down everytime. He is not adjusting to the speed of the game. But Towson sux.
