actually, some fans remember the near-losses or too-close-for-comfort wins as well...

+1 excellent post

Naw, he would cost too much to fire. We're stuck with him for a couple of years at least.

A BCS bowl is less important than winning the west and shutting Bama out of the SECCG, IMO.

They're not mutually exclusive. We will be in a BCS bowl if we win the west.

He needs 9 wins or he will understand that firing and hiring is no longer his to do.. Every good coach to protect his own hide fires the assistants the first year, then it gets very hot for him. a bad 2009 and 2010 IMO would lead to his release. so 8 in 2009 and 8 in 2010 leads to termination. I do not believe that will happen though.

Not at all, have a good season and be in our good graces next year. Have a bad season and the radical part of our fan base will be screaming for his head but the pressure would be on in 2010 if we have another bad season. SO bascially how he does this season really wont get him fired, but it will detirmine how he is accepted going into the 2010 season.

Jake, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Les can go Hallman and we're still stuck with him for 2 more years at least.

horndog - b/c of the contract? I said 2 bad seasons 8 wins or less would get him run. you don't think so?

Exactly 11. The bowl win and the staff adjustments placated the wolves and have kept him mostly in good stead.

But he needs to do better than 8-4 to keep this from snowballing.

He's here in 10 no matter what. We wont lose more than 3 games this year, so it doesn't matter anyway.

very true because even though people are saying our schedule is so hard, the odd years are usually easier . Liek i can realistically see us only losing two games this year.

Have we gotten better as a team under him as a head coach? With that said it obviously takes a lot of luck like Pitt winning the Backyard Brawl . That is what people are saying...
I personally do not believe he is a great gameday coach. I hope this year he proves me wrong. He has won on talent since he was here. If RP was the QB last year, we win 2 more games and maybe even 3, but I doubt it. So 10 maybe 11 wins and would have been a very good year.we still would have lost to fla 2 and olepiss.

That why its a damn good thing hes a damn good recruiter . But yes his game plans and game day coaching has left alittle to be desired from his 08 campaign. In 07 it was either brillant or an epic fail.

Yeah we had two losses...and you know what, so did everybody else. If everybody else so deserving, why did we get voted in? People wanted to see LSU in that game. frick everybody else.
