Last year when Bama played CU the fake inside H/O from the shotgun by Watson and quick pass to the slot WR worked all game. It was good for 7-15 yds every time they completed that pass. Of course that was Watson.

We saw a variant of this last week with Etling faking to RB from shotgun, and then hitting other RB or TE in flat for a short-med gain. Push that option now to slot WR and/or RB & TE. Mix in those quick throws, H/Os to Guice from shotgun, jet sweeps, and yes even a Wild Tiger type formation in the right situation to get the ball directly to Guice with Williams and a FB on his flanks to open an hole.

With Canada I think we are going to see creativity and a variety of attempts, execution will be critical. GONE are the days of slamming it into a brick wall of defenders.

Canada has done a great thing, and that is loading every position on offense with personnel that has to be respected.
Guice and Williams in the backfield, highly athletic guys at WR, and throw in all the motion amd missirection, all adds up to a flout out nightmare for their DC.
It should have been done last year w LF and Guide. You just cannot line up against Bama with a blocking FB and try to prove you can shove OF down their throat.
So I look for us to put both in the backfield and with God's grace hit a few underneath routes and slants, which will loosen up the linebackers.

It really is our only shot. Keep them off balance and force them to open up their offense to play catch up.
At that point their QB is more susceptible to a mental error or two.

Two or three turnovers giving us a short field. Stack the box on their run game and trust our DBs to hold serve forcing Hurts to make plays.

Look for one or two chunk plays off sweeps/passes with Guice hopefully averaging 5+ per carry.

We need to keep it low scoring and nail our field goals and special teams plays.

It's going to be incredibly tough but it's not impossible. There is a good chance they might not operate at 100% and coast. If we can hit our max intensity from the start we can get them on the back foot.. Then see how good they are.

There's alot of fear and cowardice on this site. I genuinely believe this will be competitive and there is a chance of an upset.

Put this in another thread, but just wanted to share what a long-time friend and astute Bama fan sent me via email - "For LSU it all comes down to QB play. He doesn't have to play like Tom Brady...but he has to be effective and efficient and back our LBs and Safeties' off the LOS. If that happens, Guice and your RBs will have creases to gain yards. If not, that is how Bama smothers teams. Right now I think we are a bit overrated because of the competition we have played so far. A&M was the only game that was tough, and to be honest it was more us just sucking arse on offense than it was them being good. We are more than beatable this year...and this is why. Our DL is super super thin. Our best end, Hand, has been out since Ole Miss with a meniscus. Word is we 'might' have him back for our game, but he won't be 100% or game ready. The loss of our top 2 rush outside linebackers for the season against FSU is significant and you would have to be someone who watches every game closely to notice. We have had to dial up CB and safety blitzes to create pressure on the QB without those guys...so when they are picked up, we get burned downfield. Now the real reason we are beatable is the blueprint has been set for the last two years on how to slow down our offense. Tennessee did it for almost the entire first half, but didn't have the athletes on either side of the ball to complete the deal. You simply stack 8 in the box, slow down our running game and make Jalen Hurts throw. I love Jalen....he is a winner and a gamer....can break a play open with his legs like there is no other...but he 1) can't read defenses ...cannot go through progressions, 2) He tucks the ball if his only read isn't open, and often gets taken down at the LOS, and 3) his arm is actually below average. You know other than the last few years the trend is always the away team getting the best in our series. I'm certain this will be a TIGHT game and I think LSU has a great chance of winning. I won't be surprised....."

Well, there it is. Mix in a couple of Bama turnovers (interceptions) and you've got a chance. Not a big one, but a chance. We would have to have our first total and complete game of the year. If you don't get up for this one as an LSU player then you need to find your "chest" for playing in any game. The streak needs to end now. And, on their home turf. Remember our last win over Bama was on that field. It can happen!

LSU has to stay close early. Cant get down 17 or more like everyone else has against bama. Those teams get so far behind then bama starts rotating in fresh players and it snowballs. Have to make bama play hard for 4 qtrs and wear their starters down and see how the back ups play when they arent up by 30.

This too! Like I said, not a big chance but a chance. Has to all go down just about flawless for LSU to win in T-town.

Actually, Danny has picked up some decent yards rushing the ball. He's not a complete statue.

These are his total rushing yards for every game this season. And before your excuse is well that includes sack yardage, so does every other qb's rushing yards in America. Lasy year vs. Bama he had -15 yards rushing. As a team LSU gained 33 yards on the ground.

Beating Bama takes your QB to play lights out aggressive football. You dont beat them with game management qb play

+1

I think Canada will make it interesting on offense. I like the idea of fake H/O and quick throws to TE, RB, slot receivers. I would also like to see designed rollouts to the wide side for quick passes designed to pick up 5 or 6 yards, and using the deep pass just enough to keep the safeties honest. It will be a challenge staying out of 3rd and long situations. Picking up consistent 3 to 6 yard gains on first down will be important. Hit 'em with jet sweeps, reverses, and counter plays. I think LSU has to run quick developing plays due to the speed of the Bama defense. And as you say execution will be key. First downs will be tough to come by and it's essential to have no drops in the passing game.

LSU O-Line are no match for Bama's D-Line so count on the run game being taken away, so if the passing game doesn't step up LSU will not be winning this game real talk.

I think CLM had something of the right idea. Keep the score low. Keep it close. Ball control. Time of possession. Avoid dumb mistakes and turnovers. Run out the clock. Try to score last.
