Bobby Jindal will face intense political pressure and scrutiny. In light of the way that Blanco mishandled Katrina, he cannot afford to bungle the reaction to Gustav. Hence, he will take the most conservative, circumspect approach imaginable. If the storm strengthens and remains on a path towards Louisiana, I suspect he will initiate evacuations this weekend.

Exactly, they don't even know where this hurricane is going. It could hit Texas or Lake Charles. Monday there is a chance winds could hit Louisiana and Jindal said if it hits Louisiana it would be Tuesday
I was being sarcastic. If it is going to hit on Labor Day and Louisiana is still in the path, which will become more clear at the end of this week, there is a 0% chance the game will be played Saturday. They aren't going to dick around when it comes to getting people out.
Obviously we have no idea where it is going right now, other than it will likely be in the Gulf on Saturday. That much alone means there is a very real possibility it could affect the game.

I don't think there is much the government can do to "shoo it away". I think what the previous poster meant is that the government is going to be very proactive in getting information to people and ordering evacuations with plenty of time to spare if need be (which is why it could affect the game).
of course... I still wouldn't trust the government to be very proactive or reactive. All we have to go on is past experience and we've all seen how it's been. Can you imagine how fricking stupid every politician from the local to the national level will look if we have another complete civil meltdown just years after supposedly learning the lessons of Katrina?! I'd think the backlash would be magnitudes worse than for Katrina.

Yes, that is why I think they will be overly careful and order the evacs quicker than usual...which in turn would affect the game. That has been my only point.

Exactly as of today and it could change but this game will not go as of today.

So, heaven forbid, it hits New Orleans, and BR and LSU get flooded with refugees again..... I assume we will have to play Troy at Troy. Dang Greeks.

I really don't care if the game is canceled. It's just App. State. As long as this Hurricane doesn't hit New Orleans or Louisiana I would be happy.

Before the game in the Gov's list of priorities, numbnutts.

Yes it is. 5 days out gives us (Gustav)a 300 mile error (Breck nailed Fay). Look at the Wunder model and we should be out of the picture. You want it directly toward us at 5 days because it ain't gonna continue on that line.
