Here's my assessment. I don't think you can put either of the two losses on flynn. I definitely think you can put the florida game on jamarcus. I believe he had 3 picks and a fumble. I don't think flynn ever had a game where he imploded like that. Actually I think flynn played decent in both losses. But we couldn't stop mcfadden and les refused to play scott at kentucky.

Yes, but I don't see what that has to do with anything.

Flynn QB'd a huge loss in '07 that should have cost LSU the NC

I don't know if ya'll remember or not, but there was this running back from Arkansas...he was pretty good, and he brought "dat wood" to us that night...Pretty sure our defense lost that game, not Flynn...

Even after 3 years, I still miss Jamarcus Russell. And despite the huge amount of excitement I have for Jordan Jefferson and Russell Shepard, every time I see him play I can't help but wish he was still our QB.

It blows my mind to think that people hated him here and wanted Matt Flynn to play ahead of him. This guy was so special and was one of the best talents to ever play at LSU.

Me too.

1st off, Flynn never played a team near that good.
2nd, 2 of the 3 picks weren't JR's fault and the 3rd hit his receiver.

Before the fumble, we had already scored twice but the refs (incorrectly) called them back. The ball never reached JaMarcus' hands, unless you think Helms is a liar.

we were moving the ball on them that game, but Chevis Jackson muffed a punt putting them in great field position

i agree with doc. There has to be dumb rednecks who are just deep down racist. Its not even a close debate. Jamarcus has the highest winning percentage of any LSU qb to start atleast 20 games. Statistically JR blows Flynn away. I love Flynn for staying at LSU when he could've transferred and got playing time faster. But we won games in spite of him in 07. Do ya'll not remember the Alabama game? He kept them in the game. Also, in the kentucky game Les shouldve played Scott more, but Flynn made some horrible throws that woulda put them away. You can say you like Flynn more cause he won a championship. But dont say you like him more cause he was a better qb cause it just makes you look ignorant

True, because Manning NEVER had a season as good as JR's last.

The difference was that when Flynn was the qb we won all the big games

And Russell didnt lose games he shouldn't have like UK, and home against Arkansas.

And I guess the Arkansas game wasn't a big game for LSU???

And whoever said the 06 schedule was harder, is just dumb as a stump, and cannot be even led to the truth

And in '06 those TOUGH games were on the road, in '07, they were at home.

Funny, how you left that one ridiculously important fact out.

MUCH better running game in 2007, there's your difference.

Wrong.

2007 Ohio State: #1 ranked Defense (3.64 yards per play) & #1 Pass Defense (150.15 passing yards allowed per game)

Result: LSU Win, Flynn 4 TDs, 0 INT's

Florida's 2006: #6 ranked Defense (4.32 yards per play) & #33 Pass Defense (182.93 passing yards allowed per game)

Result: LSU Loss, Russell 3 INT's, 1 TD

tOSU was way overrated in 2007. They had the #1 Defense b/c they played cupcake teams all season.

Easily 3-4 other top10 teams would've killed tOSU.

The NC game was MF's best game. before that, he was only 17td/11int for the season.

UF 2006 Defense was way better than tOSU 2007 defense. UF allowed an undefeated tOSU 82yards TOTAL in the NC game. Troy Smith, the heisman, 4-14 35yds passing.

If you going to compare the 07 Ohio State defense to the 06 Florida defense look at the conference they play in.

When your playing 8 games vs SEC or vs Big 10 which conference do you think produces a better offense?

Not going to defend Ohio State's schedule. They were ranked #1 BCS, Coaches & AP heading into the National Championship against #2 ranked LSU. Seems most teams that lose an NC games are branded overrated/exposed or whatever the word of the day on ESPN is.

The problem with that is 2006 UF did not play 2007 tOSU. Ohio State's 2006 Defense was ranked #12 (4.56 yards per play allowed) on Defense, UF's was ranked #6 in Total Defense.
The 2006 tOSU team gave up almost a full yard more than the 2007 tOSU Defense. LSU faced a better tOSU Defense.

college football as a whole was down in 2007. The SEC was down, along with the rest of the country.

Florida held the 2006 OSU team to under 100 yards. 2006 OSU > 2007 OSU.

No, it was more competitive than ever before. LSU stood out.
