Many LSU fans can't stand the guy
Many fans don't think he is the best ever, and are sick of people making threads about how we miss him, wven though we won a national championship the year after we left, and we look to have some good qbs in our system right now, so its not like we are in dyer need for a qb right now
But I would have agreed w/ this statement if the poster did this during the middle of last season when we didn't have a QB!

quote:Of course many fans think this way. But you should also watch this board during the season. When JR throws for a few TDs, somebody will start a thread about it and then some posters will call him a bust, thug, dumbass, etc... And if he throws an INT, they will start threads about how he is stupid and can't read defenses which is why he throws so many INTs... but he only had 8 INTs all last season. Boggles my mind to treat a former Tiger great that way.

Never felt we were out of the game with JR under center. And I disagree with folks who think he wasn't a good leader. He had a quiet confidence about him.

Now I see why ARLEN SPECTOR switched parties...you republicans will never change ...everything is seen through black and white...

It blows my mind to think that people hated him here and wanted Matt Flynn to play ahead of him. This guy was so special and was one of the best talents to ever play at LSU.
It blows my mind that you actually believe that.
FWIW, JL and CG are pretty excited about being here too.

Even after 3 years, I still miss Jamarcus Russell. And despite the huge amount of excitement I have for Jordan Jefferson and Russell Shepard, every time I see him play I can't help but wish he was still our QB.
It blows my mind to think that people hated him here and wanted Matt Flynn to play ahead of him. This guy was so special and was one of the best talents to ever play at LSU.
So, who is with me??
I agree except for the people hating him part. I think he was very popular when he was here, even though some people were inexplicably arguing that Flynn should play ahead of him. Jamarcus Russell was amazing. It's really a shame that he never got to win a championship here. Our 2007 team would have been just absolutely sick if he had stayed one more year.

Our 2007 offense was "sick" if you remember. We lost two first round draft WRs and the right side of our OL after the 06 season. With Bowe, Davis, and Doucet, what else did he need.
Just imagine how much more productive the 07 offense would have been if Flynn had Bowe and Davis when Doucet was injured.

Just imagine how ridiculous JRs numbers would have been playing against LSU's 07 schedule! That would be 5 years on the bench for MF. Or just imagine the conversation we would be having if D Byrd misses the TD pass against Auburn or if WV doesn't lose their regular season finale. IF...............

how does it blow your mind?
there were a TON of people on the rant back in 2004-2007 that thought flynn should be starting.
not because flynn was better, but because of something else.
and what the hell man?
JL and CG? leave it to you to bring jarrett lee into a jamarcus thread.

That's impressive.

Doc:
Your previous arguments had a lot to do with your opinion that the 2006 schedule was harder than the 2007 schedule. That is a very difficult thing to be sure about, because none of those teams play each other, ie 2006 team vs 2007 team. Also, that is a dificult thing to prove when the 2007 schedule featured just as many powerful football teams, like 11-1 OSU and ACC champ V. Tech, just as examples.
The other thing about your argument that I felt was weak, was when you said that the 2006 team was better because they lost to the stronger teams on their schedule, UF and Auburn, while the 2007 team lost to weaker teams on their schedule , Arky and Kentucky. Well, that argument cuts both ways, because that just means the 2007 team beat more powerful teams than the 2006 team.

2006 -- LSU = 1 of only 2 teams all time to play 4 top ten teams on the road.
Jimbo lost Auburn.
JR was amazing.
JR + Crowton would have been lights out

Who remembers that 2007 LSU team did something no other college has ever done. Didn't they beat like 6 top 15 teams?

If JR stayed one more year, that 07 squad would have been one of the greatest teams of all time.
