re: I still miss Jamarcus

OK...let me clear the air on a few things.
1.) I did not start this thread for the sole purpose of it turning into a Jamarcus vs. Flynn saga. I loved what Flynn did for the program and I'm rooting for him to have success with the Packers just as hard as I'm rooting for Jamarcus to have success with the Raiders. Flynn brought us a national championship so that is a huge accomplishment in itself. However, I loved Jamarcus more, even considering he didn't win us a national championship (even though championships are won as a team).
2.)I'm not a racist, as someone previously stated. I'm excited to see Jordan Jefferson and Russell Shepard because they are exciting and electric players. No offense to Jarret Lee, but there really isn't much to get excited about with him.
3.)The reason I miss J-Rock is because he made me stop and say "Wow" every single time he stepped out onto the field. I looked forward to watching him play all week before a game. What I saw in him, and what this program had in him, was rare. Regardless of the color of his skin or his "intangibles" (or lack there of, according to some), he possessed some of the most polished and gifted quarterback ability I have ever seen. Albeit I'm only 23 years old, but I had the ability to recognize the talent he displayed out on the field game in and game out, while also looking past the color of his skin. I just wish more people could have done the same.
That is all.
P.S. - And yes, this thread was prompted by the JaMarcus Russell action figure thread.

There were times you looked at him and said he was utterly amazing and other times you said what the hell is he thinking?
The Good:
One play that sticks out easily is the ASU TD pass to Early Doucet.
70 yard passes with guys who could run under them. Early, DB, and Buster.
The Bad:
The worse play I can ever remember in LSU football was the Auburn 7-3 game. What would possess you to throw the ball to the 5 yard line at the sidelines. At least in the middle of the field he can make a move or just throw it in the endzone, but Buster might be to blame for that also.
The Both:
The Tennessee game were he was the goat and the savior.
All in all I am glad he came to LSU. He was good for the program.

It should, since no one did. That kind of emotion is reserved for guys like Josh Booty and Jarrett Lee.
People that hate on JL are idiots. He wasn't ready and that wasn't his fault hate on RP first or Cecil Collins or Derrick Odom or Jarvis Jones.

I can name 5 plays Flynn made in the arkansas game alone that were worse "decision-making" than anything Russell ever did.
Flynn/Russell is about race. I sat in Tiger Stadium, and I know what I heard being said about Russell. It's white trash south Louisiana so I'm not surprised, but facts are facts. Flynn could not sniff Russell, in ability or in production.

I'm with ya Gugs!!
Russell is a top 3 all time LSU athlete for me, put up the best single season numbers for an LSU QB, and was just an overall badass!!
Glad he was on our side!!!

No way, that was the best WR to throw to give us a chance to win.
First of all, the dumbest part was we only had 3 WR goes towards the endzone.
ANd if you watched the play. the other 2 WRs had guys absolutely blanketing them. THe odds of them catching and scoring were WAY lower then the odds of Buster Davis catching that ball with just a bit more time to put a move on the safety and score.
That throw was definitley the best chance for us to win, it just got there a split second too late.

Your previous arguments had a lot to do with your opinion that the 2006 schedule was harder than the 2007 schedule. That is a very difficult thing to be sure about, because none of those teams play each other, ie 2006 team vs 2007 team. Also, that is a dificult thing to prove when the 2007 schedule featured just as many powerful football teams, like 11-1 OSU and ACC champ V. Tech, just as examples.
The other thing about your argument that I felt was weak, was when you said that the 2006 team was better because they lost to the stronger teams on their schedule, UF and Auburn, while the 2007 team lost to weaker teams on their schedule , Arky and Kentucky. Well, that argument cuts both ways, because that just means the 2007 team beat more powerful teams than the 2006 team.
2006 strength of schedule > 2007's
everyone knows that.

It blows my mind to think that people hated him here and wanted Matt Flynn to play ahead of him. This guy was so special and was one of the best talents to ever play at LSU.
It's a shame people like you start agenda driven threads like this to throw Matt Flynn under the bus.

who is throwing flynn under the bus?

No it's not. Rohan Davey & Herb Tyler as both well respected LSU QBs in LSU History, as is JR.
Why hasn't Alabama ever had a Starting Black QB? Perhaps you should investigate that..

Apparently you didn't sit in the "Oh..here comes that 'lil white boy again" section.

Facts are facts. Flynn came into greatest stage of all, the National Championship Game against #1 ranked Ohio State & their #1 ranked Defense & tossed 4 TDs.
Did JR ever toss 4 TDs in 1 game while at LSU?

So you're really trying to make the case that Flynn is better than JR?

I don't think that section actually existed.
but thanks for playing.
I did however hear a lot of racial slurs directed towards JR on saturdays from 2004-2006.

Or he'd have a ring if he stayed for 2007. And we probably go undefeated.
