But I'm not stupid enough to believe that anything one person hears in one place defines an entire population. I mean, stereotyping an entire population on the basis of comments by a few people; that's pretty severely close minded . . . bordering on racist.
Flynn/Russell is about race. I sat in Tiger Stadium, and I know what I heard being said about Russell.

It's white trash south Louisiana so I'm not surprised

TheDoc, you are a laugh riot. First you insist that no one could possibly think Flynn was better than JaMarcus except due to racism, and now there's never been anyone in Tiger Stadium that didn't like white players. The world you imagine that you live in boggles the mind.

I didn't...but Flynn is not better than JR. At least not at LSU, he wasn't. But that's not what this thread is about.

the elephant isn't a symbol of the "state".
The elephant he wore wasnt a sign of the University of Alabama either, dumbass.
His lifelong friend has a record label called
Bama Boyz Records and he was helping support and promote his childhood friends buisness, like any good friend would do. But you choose to think what you want.

3.)The reason I miss J-Rock is because he made me stop and say "Wow" every single time he stepped out onto the field. I looked forward to watching him play all week before a game. What I saw in him, and what this program had in him, was rare. Regardless of the color of his skin or his "intangibles" (or lack there of, according to some), he possessed some of the most polished and gifted quarterback ability I have ever seen. Albeit I'm only 23 years old, but I had the ability to recognize the talent he displayed out on the field game in and game out, while also looking past the color of his skin. I just wish more people could have done the same.
JaMarcus was the most talented QB to ever play for LSU, hands down.

wow that could have been said a lil nicer

Well I am sorry but this crap gets spewed about every 3 months and people just dont know what they are talking about and it has affected JaMarcus and how he views LSU fans.

People here are way to ignorant to know this. It is sad that it comes down to this racist shite everytime. I think that it is more prevalent with the older fans that grew up learning to hate the opposite race.

This is prolly true, but does that mean he is the best?
ETA: I love what JR did for LSU, and I certainly believe he deserves the respect from all Tiger fans, and realize that he has contributed to how great this program was this decade

I think so.
But opinion are like assholes, we all have them.
I think he was held back alot at LSU by Fisher.

Maybe Cable will turn him loose.

Cable is an old school philosophy kinda guy, one of those run it down your throats kinda people, i don't see him letting him "loose."
A good year for JR would be a year where he starts all 16 games. And that lil backup that always finds a way to start on a team, Jeff Garcia never sees the field

Jamarcus was a great college QB here at LSU and could have contributed to the team a lot more if not him being banged-up like Davy was and also Jimbo Fisher to some extent. They both, Davy and Jamarcus had a determenation about them and a drive about them that said I can do better and that there is nothing that I can't do or refuse to let them quit or fall short of what they wanted to carry out. I hope the kids coming out of high school this year will demonstrate that same determination and let what they leave on the field speak for them and not their mouths or what they did in high school. For it is what's from the heart that will carry you further than anything that a person can say about themselves or anyone else can say about them that counts the most.
All the QB's we've had at LSU over the last 10 years or so all had something special that they brought to the team that made them special. Just because a QB had that position when they won the NC does not make them any better than the ones that did not, it's just that they had a better all around team around them that helped them win the NC.

The JR/Flynn situation was much like the Manning/Martin situation.
When Peyton was at Tenn, they didnt win the NC but the year after he left they did with Tee Martin.
Was Tee Martin a better QB? No.
What happens alot of the time with a great QB. is the rest of the team expects the QB to win the game and basically wait for them to do it.
(much like Elways early years compared to his later years when he won two Super Bowls.)
Once the "Great" QB leaves, the rest of the team plays more as a team and depends less on the QB to do it all.
Like Tee Martin and Matt Flynn at Tenn & LSU.
But to say Martin & Flynn were better than Manning and Russell is silly.

well i personally think comparing Manning to JaMarcus is silly as well
Posted on 4/29/09 at 12:16 pm to mlttiger
Not comparing them. Comparing the team mentality when you have a great QB compared to the team with a good QB.
Human nature tends to lead to them playing less as a complete team with a great QB and more as a team with a good to average QB.
