Ah, that changes things.

I guess it's just unrealistic for him to work, although I think he would do a fantastic job here. It would just be a little bit more of a process.

We won't lose much in the next two years. Obviously there are better options considering Pearl's baggage. However, I do think he could potentially do a great job.

If he didn't have the show cause I wouldn't mind him, but not being able to recruit is something an LSU Coach cannot afford at the current time.

It would be a little different. Pearl would have an excuse, at least.

We should hire Andrew Toole. He's the 31 year old HC at Robert Morris. They're playing in the NEC championship game, trying to get a bid to the NCAAT. They're 24-9 right now.

This not a very serious suggestion, but this guy has a pretty bright future ahead of him.

Unfortunately in college basketball today you need a coach that is a little sleazy to bring in the talent. But not that sleazy.

LSU can be elite and fans will support good basketball. Right now LSU needs a good promoter and recruiter.

No idea, I just found this guy while surfing wikipedia. The same way I determined that Gregg Marshall is the perfect candidate. And the same way I found out that Bryce Drew was born in Baton Rouge while his dad Homer was on Dale Brown's original staff at LSU.

Circle K....PLEASE, for the love of GOD, DO NOT BRING UP WEBERS NAME! That guy is a train-wreck! Living up here in Illinois & being married to an Illini, I've watched a LOT of Illini basketball. Pretty sure you could find some local BREC coaches that could do better. He had a couple of good years (until Bill Self's kids graduated) and has turned a top 3 program in the B1G into a team that can only finish ahead of Nebraska & Penn St. Both of those cellar dwellars also beat the Illini this year.

Guy has the personality of a wet noodle and his offense makes watching paint dry seem exciting! He always places blame on others and is clueless on how to connect with his players. His teams quit on him in January EVERY year! Same excuses, same results every year but with different players...the only constant in that dumpster-fire is Weber!

I wonder if Jimmy Dykes has any interest in coaching.

That dude ain't coming here.

Our strategy will probably have to be:

* Make Brad Stevens say, "lol, no"
* Throw the fricking full court press at Gregg Marshall.
*Settle for Johnny Jones or some other hire similar to what Trent was.

I think 15 years of complete shite for a basketball program, primarily caused by ridiculously drastic sanctions for NCAA rules violations, should teach us that we don't, under any circumstances, want a coach who plays fast and loose with the rules.

I would love to have Pearl. He would bring excitment and a winning attitude with him. And the P-MAC would be full again.

What was Pearl's record vs Brady? So we are going from a guy who led us to a final four to a guy who led Tennessee to probation. I'm glad you aren't AD.

What does this have to do with anything?

The issue with Pearl is his recruiting ban and show-cause penalty. Tennessee actually suffered no penalties. It was all on Pearl and his assistants.

yes he is going to push the envelope in recruiting, but...

You obviously do not remember what is was like to have a basketball coach in the NCAA crosshairs. LSU got raped by the NCAA for the violations when Dale Brown was coach. Do you really think that Bruce Pearl will be less scrutinized by the NCAA, after the show cause penalty, than Dale Brown was? No thanks, that is asking for trouble that LSU does not need.
