I am convinced the media adulation is the reason Tennesse got a higher seed that we did in the 2006 NCAA tourney, despite the factt eh Tigers won the regular season crown and made it to the semifinals of the SEC tournament wherer they lost to eventual national champions Florida.

To be fair Stanford was elite every year under Mike Montgomery. Johnson left because of pay more than anything else

I'm much more frugal with my first impressions and time has taught me not to put these coaches on pedestals.
So I like to keep the jury out a few years before flowery prose in honor of our coaches.
But what I do like is our guy seems to be principaled and to demand discipline.
I like that foundation. Recruiting will make or break him and I can assure you I'll support he and my Tigers as best I can.

I don't hate Pearl. I strongly oppose the media adulation he has rceived while winning only one SEC title and having beaten only one team from a major conference in NCAA tournament play.
How did the team fare before Pearl arrived? How about after?
Pearl is an outstanding coach, and a great personality for the University of Tennessee. His antics could grow tiresome in a few years, but they love him around here.
