when we get swagga back from saban's guys, you can compare our future teams to 2006

yeah, like the arse-beating we put on 4-win washington
Again, use one game. Ignore the other 20+.
We will blowout UNC. And when we do, you'll come back and talk about how you weren't wrong in your assessment and how what you predicted COULD HAVE happened IF this and that happened.

Unless he wins another NC, then very likely the answer is no. I don't even think another SEC championship or two will make some fans truly embrace him (because we were in the hunt for NCs when Saban left and during Miles' first years here... despite the fact that almost no big-time college coach in a major sport aside from John Wooden, Skip Bertman and I'm sure one or two more have been able to sustain the level of dominance that Tiger fans expect). Please note-- I believe this is the short answer to your question, but it doesn't necessarily make it right or fair... of course we all know life isn't fair.
There are two factors that will decide Miles' legacy.
1) How good the Tigers are playing when he leaves.
2) How good the Tigers are under his successor.
If Miles does bounce back and starts winning the SEC and NCs (not likely for any coach), then he will be beloved.
If Miles at least holds serve, doesn't fall below 9 or 10 wins a season and can win the SEC every 3 years or so, he will be well regarded (not beloved) as long as his successor doesn't do better. If his successor does better, regardless of how well Miles continues to do, then a significant number of fans will cry that he wasn't fired fast enough.
Lastly, if Miles does not at least win 9 games a year, he will almost certainly be gone within 2-3 years and be remembered poorly, and every fault will be unfairly magnified.

You don't think LSU could lose those games?
Would you give me LSU (under) 9 games for $1000 next season.

Can I play too?
Florida was clinging to a 9 point lead at Miss State (5-7) in the 4th quarter just like LSU did. cue SEC officiating
Alabama was losing to LSU (9-3) until a plethora of critical players go down for LSU
Alabama was clinging to a 7 point lead at USCe (7-5) until USCe kept killing themselves with penalites and missed field goals every time they got into Bama territory
Florida was losing to Arkansas late in the 4th quarter. cue SEC officiating, again
Alabama was losing to Auburn (7-5) late in the 4th quarter. cue Todd
Alabama led Florida international (3-8) 20-14 at the half. How do you think Star Jackson would have done in this game?
Florida led Tennessee (7-5) 13-6 at the half (you remember, that Tennessee team they were going to beat 40-0 since Kiffin was hired)
Crowton is gone. And we will be better on offense next year. The state, vandy, uga, latech, and OM games I put on his shoulders. Lee against latech and Miles against OM as well.
Arkansas was a bad game? With all our top running backs out and going against the best pro-QB prospect in the country??

ditto. Though Chavis only rushing 3 on their final drive still has me on the fence about him and the "Mustang" package etc.
You want perfection, that's fine. And I'm sorry you don't care anymore whether it's 7-10 wins/season. I really am. Because when we do win 10 or 11 regular season games next year, I can't help but think you would still find something to be all sad and miserable about. And that's a pretty damn shame.
We go 9-3 or worse next year, I eat crow, and Miles's is gone.

one other factor that bears mentioning: Miles' communication skills will have some negative impact on his legacy. It will be like having an asterisk next to his record, so even if he becomes beloved, there will always be the "but he couldn't speak for sh*t" argument. While Saban was no William F. Buckley, he was eloquent relative to Miles. To put a number on it, Miles' lack of media savvy will tarnish his legacy about the same as an extra loss per year.

quote:You guys are getting more pathetic by the day. Typical basher..."Miles sucks and don't bring up the 10 win seasons of 2005, 2006, 2007 or 2009. He is defined by 2008 and the Ole Miss game of 2009."
the miles bashers really haven't been wrong
he's done just what the non-crazy bashers have expected
and don't bring up 2007.

i'm more worried about losing black and having josh D and hebert, plus whoever couldn't beat out hitt, playing OL
Do you watch the fricking games? Our OT play has been horrendous. Barksdale gets beat off the edge constantly and Black is much of the same. Their is no OL man who has distinguished himself as the best/worst this year. If anything, the poor play from Hitt/Black/Barksdale was the most disappointing given their veteran status/experience, dumbass.

will there be people longing for miles 5 years after he leaves the program like many do with Saban?
will Miles have to take over another SEC program and dominate from year 2 on in order to garner that love?
GOT the BIG spoon out tonight I see!!!!
