But he didn't.

Both are young. They will both get better IMO

What makes you say this?

Harris makes the same runs as Watson.

Watson just does it much more frequently.

Just think Watson is a much more athletic, legit dual threat qb...Thats just my opinion though..

At least get him in rhythm first with some slants, crossing routes, screens or te action. Instead of just trying to chunk it. Coaches fault in my opinion, with the shitty gameplan

Haha how about let's let him develop his accuracy more on medium passing routes before we worry about running him all over the place.

The difference in the two is confidence. One always has it and the other one only has it in advantageous situations.

So, just that I understand.

Are we wanting Harris to run more now?

Because in October we wanted to "open the playbook up"'and let him throw more.

Serious question btw.
I, and many others, have been saying running him more would likely help his passing game immensely.

Not to mention he, at least right now, seems more accurate on the run than in the pocket surveying the field most of the time.

But having more experience of both moving the pocket and using the run/threat of run to move coverage just might be in his wheelhouse.

ETA: for better comparisons than to Watson... compare Harris to the Louisville QB last night (true freshman). Petrino ran him out of the shotgun to loosen up the D to make the passing easier on his young buck.

Watching Clemson's Offense it hit me that our Offensive system is, indeed, the problem in Baton Rouge.
Nobody has more talent at skill positions than we do. Why on earth can't we play Offense as fluently as teams like Clemson? It's the system.
I could care less if Cam is gone and we get another system. Only problem is the players' investment in current things.

Harris' biggest issues are the speed of his decision making and his inconsistent accuracy. When Harris gets in a zone, you can see how much potential he has. Go back and watch the UF game, which was the closest to a complete game for him. Then watch the mid 3rd to the end of the bowl game. It's all about getting him in that rhythm more often and keeping him there.

The problem seems to be that, when he isn't in rhythm, nothing works. He doesn't set his feet properly and then overthrows. He has a harder time with progressions. He is tentative about when to run, and on decision making in zone read plays. We all saw how dangerous he can be on the zone read with that bowl game TD run. He looked great on several in the State and AU games, as well. But, go back to the 3 losses and, other than a few in the Bama game, he was much less decisive and made some poor reads.

It's all about the staff pushing the ceiling of his football IQ and getting him to a comfort level in the offense where he can make these reads and decisions faster. It isn't that he's stupid. We are talking about split seconds of hesitation and over-thinking. They need to figure out how to get Harris to a point where he can be more fluid and natural out there.

This is all easier said than done, but if Cam and some natural maturation can result in Harris playing a more instinctual game rather than think about every little decision, then the passing game will improve.

Being able to throw from a clean pocket without a DE or a blitzing LB in your face helps tremendously in this regard. It's no coincidence that Harris's worst games were games where we also couldn't pass block worth a shite.

He needs to get bigger and learn how to handle playcalls especially when they give him two at a time. He still struggles
