I agree that Harris' ceiling is much higher, but I haven't seen anything from him that makes me believe he gives us a better chance to win today. I want him to get more PT these last 2 games because we can't do any worse and he might be our starter next season

Well, even in his worst game as a college player, he still generated a TD without knowing the playbook and being extremely nervous. Jennings on Saturday could not even do that after his 10 start on the season.

We saw a formula that worked best was to start Jennings and bring Harris off the bench, but I guess that is too much for the coaches that allow both players to each get 50% of the snaps in practice anyway.

We've started Jennings against Ms State, Bama, and Arkansas, didn't really work out (1 td in those 3 games by our "best" qb). That's just flat out awful. If we don't have better, then shame on the coaches recruiting.

The coaches recruited Gunner Keil. He was supposed to be our starter this year

And Hayden Rettig couldn't wait his turn. I don't see how either of those are the coaches fault

Hayden Rettig was beaten out for the #2 spot last year by true freshman Anthony Jennings. Either a) total whiff by the coaches in evaulating talent, or b) incompetence on the coaches for failing to keep the better player higher on the depth chart.

So the only good qb's in this country are 3rd, 4th, and 5th year players? There are no quality 1st and 2nd year players at the qb position anywhere in this country?

If LSU doesn't have a 4th or 5th year qb we just throw up our hands and give up on the passing game?

What I'm saying is, when you recruit highly rated players and they leave, it tends to leave a hole. Think what we would have at RB next season if Fournette would have flipped. Look what happened when we had to get rid of RP. If Rettig thinks he's that good, why was his only option to go to Rutgers? He was asked to earn a spot and didn't do it

This is not the case. We had Rettig, Jennings, Rivers, and Bolden all on scholarship at the same time. Miles and company chose Jennings. So are we supposed to believe that all of those qb's sucked? We can't develop not one of those guys into a serviceable qb? Because we are watching Jennings in year 2, and is badly struggling. How could he possibly beat out all of those qb's as a true freshman?

The is no way to make an excuse for Miles on this.

You mean Rettig who hasn't played a down this season for Rutgers and Bolden who is on his 3rd college because he couldn't win a position anywhere else and has a 43% completion percentage and 300 something yards this season? Or Rivers who is about on par with Bolden at Vandebilt?

How do you develop kids who won't stay long enough to be developed?

So you are saying that Miles sucks at recruiting decent qb's. Got it.

On a side note, what kind of numbers do you think Jennings would put up at Vandy? Better or worse than Rivers?

I'm saying when you lose your starter of the future (Kiel) that it is a multi-year recovery

Hard to tell since River's can't get on the field there much either

Forgot to address this. Perrilloux, Mett, Kiel, rivers, Rettig. All highly ranked recruits. Some of them panned out, others fooled other Division 1 coaches who recruited them, recruiting rankings, etc

Keil was never on campus, we didn't "lose him". He didn't set our qb's back. I'd argue that if he was here, he'd suck just as well. Les Miles is a qb killer. Mett was not good for the first 2/3 of the 2012 season thanks to jr high game planning. 8 man box??? Throw a slant pass. How dumb is that? The safeties sitting at 7 yards to stop the run are also in the throwing lane for a slant pass.

So holding a scholarship for a kid into January and having him back out then doesn't hurt your program? Got it

We were left with Bolden and Liggins (another 4 star recruit who has barely seen the field at OM)

We missed out on Patrick Miller, offensive lineman. Les Miles, being the swell, grass eating guy that he is, walked to Miller's dorm (he was already on campus) and said, "Um, yeah, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." Miller left and went to Auburn, and has been a contributor and started for them in their run to the national championship game.

What about Rivers and Rettig. We had them on the team as well. So we whiffed on 4 qb recruits in a 2 year period?

Would you like him to start recruiting 1 and 2 star qb's?

3 star and above qb's Miles has had on the team

Perrilloux
Mett ( yeah yeah Juco rable rable)
Rivers
Rettig
Jennings
Harris
Liggins
Jefferson
Lee

Guess they all fooled everyone else recruiting them too

I don't think they are all incapable of being a serviceable qb. I think we suck at giving them a chance to succeed.

By the way, I appreciate our private debate. It's been good, no name calling. Just two guys discussing football.
