The positives of this game were
RUN DEFENSE,
PASS RUSH,
RUNNING GAME (even minus the long run by SHep), O-LINE played better than they did last year. JJ HAD MORE TIME AND WE RAN THE BALL
SPECIAL TEAMS - KICK RETURNERS AND PUNTING
Broken it down against their team though, these could be misleading considering who was on their kick teams and their #1 receiver and #1 and 2 RB's were out causing us to gain an advantage.
On the Return game, we did well against an obviously depleated coverage team since most of their D starteers played on that team.
I'm out b/c of this.
We made mistakes in EVERY Aspect of the game except Run Defense.
1. We blitzed our ALL AMERICAN CORNER AND LET OTHER PLAYERS GET BURNED.
2. Our QB - Looks good statistically, but if you watched it again and agiin, he had 3 nice throws. all on slants. Don't think the long TD was a nice throw at all FWIW. When NC brought their 2 starting LB's, that shite was shutdown. Where are the touch throws to the back shoulder away from the DB? Where are the out throws if he has such a strong arm? Where was the 2 min drill. That is where the issue from last year really rears its ugly face. It is all about how quick this QB reads, understands his offense and what the other team's defense is giving him.
3. Our secondary gave up 172 yds on 2 plays. if not that we win big AND the QB doesn't look so great after all statistically. Remember,he threw 15 INT's last year and was without his #1 receiver.
4. We roughed the kicker
5. Turnovers. Go watch Ridley last year and come back and talk to me.
6. TT was a ghost. He should have dominated those DB's.
7. Penalties - LACK OF DISCIPLINE!
