The announcers were even shocked which is rare

I disagree.
The pitching was helped immensely, for both sides, because the batters never had an idea of what was a strike and what wasn’t. It’s already incredibly hard to hit a baseball. It’s 10x tougher when one pitch may be a strike and the next pitch in the exact same location isn’t.
I HATE hyperbole. But I can honestly say that is the worst performance by a home plate umpire I’ve ever seen. I watched the game with 40+ strangers and to a person no one was ever sure if a pitch was a strike or a ball.

I totally agree. It looked intentional and nothing surprises me in this day of sports betting. You’re not going to get every close call, but when you don’t get any during a crucial stretch and he throws in some flat out wrong calls, I don’t think that’s an accident. It wasn’t just that inning, either. How in the hell do you have a guy calling the college World Series whose zone is like a good old squeeze box. Our then in. Quit counting those ankle strikes he was calling on us, but that zone didn’t apply to their hitters on multiple occasions.

Lol, the umps sucked, but they sucked for both teams.
We lost because their pitching lived up to their lofty billing and shoved it right down our dick.
What did our pitching do then? It was still a 1 run game.
Yes, the ump sucked both ways, be sure seemed partial towards the end to Wake.

I'm sure Wake fans feel the same way. It was impossible to anticipate a strike zone, for both teams. TERRIBLE.
Both teams had guys swinging just because they knew they could easily get "rung up". I've never see that many players in one game think they had a walk, threw the bat and started to 1st base. Catchers thinking that was a strike out. Both teams suffered from that mess.

We can definitely look at our inability to get a run in with first and third and no outs. But if you truly think the umpire’s incompetence affected both teams equally, I truly don’t know what to tell you. The strike zone absolutely shrunk in the bottom of the sixth and it was the difference in the game.

The ump was absolutely horrible. Both ways all night. Think it was even, and he was for sure out at home on that play. We got lucky to get out of that jam.

That’s such a stupid way of looking at it.
You are saying yes he sucked. Yea he sucked bad. However both teams had him as their umpire.
Did it change that he sucked bad? No.
Did he directly impact the game? Yes.
Would the game have been different had he called it fairly? Yes.
Who would have won if he hadn’t shite the bed? Who knows, but at least the athletes would have decided the game.

Saints vs Rams no pass interference call. That still pisses me off.

It's the only way to look at it in baseball.
Human error from the umpires is part of it, always has been unfortunately.
You still take advantage of the chances you get throughout the game, its why you play 9 innings.
Who knows, maybe if we don't swing at balls out of the zone when were ahead of the count, we get into a bases loaded situation like they did and catch a break. They were more disciplined knowing the zone was squeezed.

by pointing to an entirely different situation.
Yes, point being the umpire did squeeze the zone and give way for them to set up an opportunity. Did the umpire hit the ball through the middle to score the runs too?
The umpire was calling it tight when we were batting too, we should have been able to be disciplined enough to set up more of a rally and execute in times like the 8th.
Sure, complain that the umpire gave them an advantage offensively. That same umpire is on the field when we are on offense too lmao.

I Knows. lol With those stats, the good Lord himself couldn't win by 4.

I don’t care how the ump calls the game as long as the game is called consistently for both sides, which I thought it was until the bottom of the 6th—there were pitches that were strikes that were not called and pitches that were strikes earlier that were not called.
If the ump is going to tighten the zone—it needs to be done at the top of an inning and be consistent.
In the end, the opportunities were there.

Allowing a kid to walk the bases loaded on is what caused the loss
That is on JJ

Not that it matters but I want to see the actual track man data.
