Shep being a bust is more of the coaches fault IMO..they haven't utilized him very well, especially last year

Xavier Carter was a bust as a WR and then became a track guy with a knack for always being around when football players did something stupid around town.
Davenport seems to be coming around some as a 2nd string tackle on offense. Jury still out
Shep has not lived up to the huge hype but has made plays. Not a bust though.
Woods was a 3-4 nose tackle playing in a 4-3 defense. Disappointing but not a bust.
Loston has been hurt and pays in maybe the deepest DB talent in the country...and will start this year...please.
Ryan P. was a 5 star hugely talented QB who, while he did deliver in the SEC champ game, got kicked off the team when he would have mattered and was in a huge way responsible for the debacle that was the Jefferson/Lee era of LSU QB play. That is one HELL of a bust in my opinion.

Has Terrence Toliver been mentioned already?
He was our leading reciever his senior year... he also had that weird spin move right after he caught the ball that worked all the time I thought he was pretty good considering the QB situation

Who was that LB Tepper recruited out of the Woodlands, TX?
Javi Sanchez. Oh, misread the question. Whenever somebody mentions Tepper, I automatically think of JS.
I think that LB was David Walkup.

Anyone remember Tim Pope, #1 recruit from Florida that Saban signed in 2001 (same class as Clayton, Spears, Hill etc). Dude was supposed to be a cant miss hard hitting LB but got into some legal problems, got kicked out and ended up in jail. Our defense could have been sick with him, Faulk and James.

Robert Davis...running back from Birmingham,AL. Was part of the fab four Curly rb class of 1992. He was supposed to be the next Charles Alexander. He had one long run in one game and then disappeared.

3 guys from the same recruiting class have been mentioned in this thread as all-time busts. Whether you believe they are true busts or not, having three of four 5 star recruits not meet expectations is crazy.
Despite that fact, that same class has given us guys like Brockers, Claiborne, Faulk, Ford, Mingo, Montgomery, Logan, etc.
That has to be one of our top 5 classes of all-time. Just imagine if 3 or 4 of the top recruits in the class had met expectations.

He transferred to UAB before really getting started here.

Chris Pettaway, 1985. Parade All-American OL, #1 recruit in the state of FL. Was at LSU four years and never stepped on the field
Ding ding ding!!! After him Smalling, Paquette, and Davenport.
Our biggest whiff even though he was four star was Antonio Robinson. He was not even Division II material

Yea he was the strongest player, and one of the five fastest on the team when he showed up on campus. Another one that hurt that year was Brandon Williams. He would have been special. Then in 2003 what was the reason again that Darryl Johnson never made it here. He was better that craig davis at OPW

I love threads about best or worst players/ events in LSU history. Apparently all of these happenings have only occurred in the last 10 years.

Woods, Carter and at this rate, Davenport would be the worst. At least the other two saw the field with SOME regularity
