He has kept LSU on the national map in football on a consistent annual basis. His major asset to the university is his ability to recruit nationally. Saban started it and Miles has kept the engine running and even improved LSU's image! YES he is proving to be the best Coach in LSU history. He also is smart enough to surround himself with not only great players but great coaches. Unbelievable job! Number one in my book! Geaux Tigers!

There is no argument here - - WTH is if Miles is not. He has accomplished far more than any other Coach. Winning Percentage, Bowl Wins (real bowls not the Tangerine Bowl), Top Tens, oh and Championships and he is not finished. There is no debate.

All this accomplishment achieved through the most doubt and negative /whiney fanbase over the past few years.

Cheers to Les for sticking it out and proving all the haters wrong.

If he loses Monday, it won't be because he got outcoached....that won't happen.

Can you even make an argument for another coach?

You can make an argument for Mac based on overall wins and that he was all-LSU, but quite frankly SEC and National Championships speak for themselves.

I was looking through the history of our program last night. LSU had 7 seasons with 10 wins or more before Miles in its history. Miles has 5 in 7 years. Yeah, I know we play one more game but guess what, Miles has at least 11 wins in all 5 of those seasons.

had paul hadn't gone to coach army then he'd have an argument. but because he left the program so early, he wont have the numbers to keep him ahead of les for long.

paul did some pretty special things though.

Does a bear crap in the woods?

80% winning percentage, 6-1 bowl record, most wins by ANY BCS school since 2005, 1 OOC loss in 7 years, 5 of 7 seasons nationally ranked in Top 8 or better, 5 seasons of 7 with 11 or more wins, 3 West titles, and 2 NCGs.

All done during a career when the SEC is at its most powerful ever with 6 NCs by 4 different programs.

Win or lose on the 9th, Coach Miles is already the most successful HC in LSU history.

It's crazy, but I've spoken to Florida fans who hated CUM. I mean, two MNC and Heisman trophy winner would have made any coach my favorite, but they all knew that he continounsly crapped out in recruiting. FWIW, they don't see Muschamp lasting too long there either.

As far as the OP, CLM is the greatest coach in LSU history, and after he wins on Monday, will also be the best coach in the country.

If you are talking about getting us out of the dark ages, then Gerry D beating #1 Florida actually 'started' it, along with getting top in state talent to stay.

Disagree. I think Dietzel only gets consideration because he won a NC. He had a good four-year stretch ('58-'61, with an abberation in '60) after which he left, with very little success. His best Army squad (4 years) went 7-3, and his best record at SC was 7-4 (twice). I'm not convinced the Bear wouldn't have owned PP just like he did Mac.
