I liked him because he knew how to teach, not because he knew how to motivate.

What I always felt like Saban had under control was talent evaluation. I always knew he knew what kind of player to look for.

I hope Johnson has this talent as well.

Could it possibly be that when you win....people don't care what you do as a coach, but when you lose, eveything you do is put under the microscope and considered wrong?
NAH!

never did much care for watching Nick Saban acting like a blithering idiot on the sidelines

I actually think that if he hadn't been so much of a blithering idiot, we could have actually experienced even more success under him. Some guys like Trev Faulk that bailed early to get away from that would have possibly stayed and turned a 5 loss season into maybe a 2 loss season or a 3 loss into a 1 or 2 loss. There's a tradeoff either way that many don't recognize.

John Brady would have lost that game last night.

Yup. Law of diminishing returns..Some guys, after a while, also just tune out.

I have been to all but one game(one of the proud 2500)its clear to me that TJ is a great communicator. He has the team prepared the gameplan is set and he expects whoever is in the game to do their part.Very little yelling and screaming and as I sit behind the new LSU bench I get to hear a lot of how he is in the huddle. This guy has his shite together. To look back and see how this coaching search ended compared to most in any sport you have got to agree this was golden. How many teams seeking a new coach got a guy fresh off a sweet sixteen from a BCS conference?Time will show this guy will be a great hire for the university. Those on here who have not been to a game STFU your crap doesn't count, keep tabs on your schools team thru websites and radio and quit thinking you make a difference.

And it usually doesn't translate well to pro sports.

"Ageed....I like Trent, but he's inherited a veteran team with decent talent, and we've played absolutely no one yet this year....He's got to be able to bring in some better talent than what we have now, which I think he will, otherwise it won't make much difference how well he can coach."
At least 3 members, more likely 5 or 6 will some day play professionally. More talent there than some may think. And his first two recruits are solid players. The recruiting should pick up steam judging by his track record.

I think the only guy on this team that gets a sniff in the NBA is Marcus Thorton. The others are just serviceable college players playing better than they have.Tas,CJ may make some money overseas but thats far from a given.

Trent seems to be much more into the games than Brady was...no more hanging head looking into the floor.

LSU is playing a cupcake schedule and winning against weak teams. Before you pass judgment on the new coach wait til the SEC starts. If the players played now as sorry as they did last year the new coach will hang his head also........
