Hopefully J.J. runs the offense so Lee gets to show his improvement only in mop-up situations.
However, I expect SEC defenses will start to game-plan to take away the things J.J. feels comfortable with, and J.J. will feel the ire of our clueless fan base when he is pressured into a few interceptions.

I love it when people try to compare JLee in a positive manner against other QBs who went on to have solid careers. They all present their argument the same way...by leaving out the obvious glaring statistic that makes JLee as starter so frightening. INTs for TDs. In a very short time, JJ has at least proven that he has the football smarts to throw the ball away if nothing is there. That alone puts him far ahead of JLee.

Plus he's mobile if he needs to be, which is actually a bigger deal than some seem to realize. Jimbo Fisher is no longer the OC. Crowton is. JJ is a perfect fit for Crowton's system. Lee isn't. I'm watching the replay of the Bama game right now, and it is ugly watching Lee try to run the option. It's a given what's gonna happen every time...not really an "option" at all!

You are disqualified from the discussion. Saying Lee doesn't have arm strength proves you don't know what you are talking about.

Maybe, but it's not like Jefferson has been heads and shoulders better than Lee.
Jefferson has been "heads and shoulders" better than Lee. To pretend otherwise is simply ignorant of the fact that Lee was an obvious offensive liability.

not really, but I still rather JJ as the starter.

The people that say that they don't want Lee to ever play QB at LSU again need to realize 2 things: 1) he was a freshman and 2) freshman usually get better (see: JR, Stafford, Manning etc.).
This is Undeniably true
The only problem with this argument is that Jefferson was a Freshman too.. And if you compare them side by side most fans, coaches, scouts, and hookers are going to say that Jefferson has more talent..
So by your logical statement - That would mean JJ will be better than Lee when they are both Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors..
Now Lee could be a great quarterback someday..If he got in at the right place I could see him having a Stafford type college carer... I just don't see it happening at LSU..

There are a few posters in this thread fighting to see who can fail the biggest:
A) The op, who emphatically states that Lee WILL BE THE STARTER,
B) The Hog who thinks Lee's weakness is his lack of arm strength,
C) The poster who knows of a Manning who was the QB for Ole Miss and currently plays for the Colts.
Who you voting for?

thats also true

He telegraphs his passes, and throws into coverage. It's that simple.
Also true.
HOwever what you people either Fail to realize or just flat dont want to admit is that this is common, and most importantly correctable with fresh players.
Maybe some of you shouldnt be so quick to write JL off afer his first yr.. espec consindering the circumstances he had to start under.

When JJ plays the same competition and amount of games as JL did and is heads and shoulders better than JL then you can say that.
To say otherwise, is what is TRULY ignorant.

I'll say this. It is nice to have a staff that realizes the difference between JL and JJ and have JJ as the starter. It leaves us with the occasional ranter dying to argue that JL can be the starter again, while the rest of us chuckle.
I can harken back to 15 or so years ago when we would be pissed because our old coaches would be starting the wrong guy and never give the right guy the time of day and we would burn up the phone lines complaining to radio shows.
Its a much nicer issue to have. Keep on Rantards.

What everyone tends to overlook is the fact that Jefferson benefitted from riding the bench most of the season and learning WHAT NOT TO DO! Lee (and Hatch) were thrown into the fire and were basically learning on the fly ... there's no substitution for game experience.
Jefferson has earned the right to start the season, and I really hope he can build off his GA Tech performance and lead the Tigers back to the top of the SEC. However, I will not be surprised to see his game "slip" from the last time we saw him.

FWIW, people that share your opinion moreso than mine think JL cant throw a 15 yrd out..., yeah that was actually typed page or two back
And Im the ranter.

The Mad Hatter will get it right! I hope JJ rolls us to an undefeated season! And if he falters, I hope JL comes in and proves everyone wrong. And if he doesn't, I hope Shep or Garrett light it up!
