You do what you have to do to move the chains and keep the other team off the field. The opponent can't come back if it doesn't have the ball. Your defense can stay fresh through the 4th if they get some rest from your offense keeping possession.

No.. you chew up the clock and you run it out. You don't fumble.. that was the killer.

you Ryno are seriously limited and blind. JJ had a good game - 15 of 21 - was on target, make good reads and had the mis fortune of 3 backbreaking fumbles and yes he screwed up on the grounding that hurt us. All in all, he was the most improved part of the team, and has made a big leap of maturity for a 19 year old kid. Get off of his back act like a Tiger fan and look for the truth.

My whole point was to let Lee have some real time and see what he's got in real situations and not mop up duty.
Why? You haven’t watched him throw enough interceptions and pick sixes yet? Or watched him be totally ineffective like he was in the 4th quarter of the Bama game and the entire LA Tech game last season? I’m all for letting Lee play in mop up duty, but unfortunately with Less Miles, we are always holding on for dear life or fighting to come from behind.
quote:
Lee throws a better ball and has a quicker release than JJ.
Uhm he has a quicker release, but the only better ball he throws happens to go to the defensive player. Moreover, I could care less about release as long as the ball arrives in time. Not to mention that one of Lee’s biggest problems is he is so damn slow.
quote:
I'd think the kid deserves some chance to redeem himself, but I doubt Miles/Crowton will change anything.
Yeah well why didn’t he redeem himself in the 4th quarter of the Bama game and in the La Tech game last season when he had ample opportunity. All he did was stink it up about as bad as it gets, especially in the La Tech game when Tech was forced to play walkons and almost beat LSU while out gaining us by over 100 yards.

You act like we had a 20 point lead the entire time. Let me remind you that the game ended with only a six point lead with the ball on the six yard line and two pass plays we got lucky to not have been caught, especially that first one. The fact of the matter is with the exception of two big plays, our offense was atrocious primarily because of the piss poor play calling.

Why is a running qb such a necessity now, when the almost all qbs that play in the NFL are pocket passers who dont run?
And no im not trying to talk down JJ or up Lee here. I want an honest answer on why everybody thinks a qb has to run to be successful when almost all qbs that go to the NFL are passers and not runners.

Because I don’t know if you have noticed but in the SEC you have to be able to evade the rush, especially when like last season when our offensive line was so atrocious.

which part of the following words dont you understand?
2008
red shirt freshman
RP
horrible defense
And as far as Latech, there were 21 other players that night that have started every game that had as bad of a night or worse than JL did.
Sorta worth mentioning.
Im so tired of hearing stupid fricking people such as yourself say things like this

Its apparent that you cant see it, but it really makes you look like a very uninformed fan to say things like that and basically every other thing you just posted.
You are the very type that will sit here and say JJ has certianly improved form soph to Jr but in the same breath say that JL as a red shirt fresh will do the same things two yrs later as a Jr b/c apparently in your limited mind he cant improve.
You are IMO one of the top 5 worst posters on this site, and after what you said yesterday about JL, Im amazed you still have your posting privledges.
Been nice for admins to do us a favor and put you in timeout.

Evading a rush has more to do with sliding in the pocket and getting rid of the ball than it does pulling it down and running, and btw the offensive line saturday provided tons of time to throw the ball

fricking boom. Definitely not necessary to be a running quarterback to be successful.
I find it funny how most who hate JL say that all the LSU quarterback needs to is "manage" the game and not commit turnovers, then start up with some shite about JL not being able to run as well as JJ.
Is a game manager supposed to be a running quarterback?
IMO JJ is a pocket passer FWIW

I don't know how you continue to put up with those who are so quick to beat down JL, and fail to give JJ remotely any responsibility for the offense struggling to move the ball consistently.
I applaud your efforts, and agree with your post completely.

I thought the same thing last year. I'm not seeing the progress in his development.
We should have seen Lee in on several possessions after a couple of 3 and outs in the second half. Last year we saw Lee very little until JJ went down with an injury. Then he was a basket case, he should have been brought along with reps in each early game.
Maybe Shep at QB would have been interesting as as our offense struggled in that second half.

He should have seen a few reps.. but only because he's the backup and unless JJ goes down will remain the backup.
20 point lead in the 4th is garbage time. Let Lee get some reps in case JJ gets hurt.

That's totally untrue. Our D struggled with La Tech's running game in the first half, but after that the D only gave up 3 points the rest of the way.
So they were a little flat and that wasn't toally unexpected.
But KW had one of the best games of his career at RB and one of the best games of the season for our RBs. Our receivers were wide open on some bombs and we couldn't get the ball close to them. And we really couldn't get it to them on short passes.
The coaching definitely an awful performance. So that didn't help JL's confidence at all. But JL's issues were his issues in that game.

All incredibly lame excuses! He was horrible until he was finally knocked out and he never showed any improvement whatsoever, and RP and the horrible defense hardly had anything to do with his piss poor level of play. I mean no one made him keep throwing pick sixes.

And it should also be mentioned that JL played far worse by far than even JJ’s worse performance. Not to mention that because of injuries, LA Tech even had to use walk-on players in that game and still out-gained LSU by over a 100 yards. You can make all the lame excuses you want, but everyone here knows that you have a man crush on JL and despise JJ. In fact, you have an obsession!
quote:
Im so tired of hearing stupid fricking people such as yourself say things like this
Only because it’s true and the truth hurts. You can’t deny reality and the reality is that he threw for 16 interceptions and a new NCAA record 7 pick sixes in only 8 starts in 2008 and even though he had a chance to redeem himself in 2009, he turned in two of the worse performances ever in LSU history.

Its apparent that you cant see it, but it really makes you look like a very uninformed fan to say things like that and basically every other thing you just posted.
No, more like I don’t have a hard-on for him like you do. Hence, I can see reality, while because of your man-crush on JL; you ignore reality and come up with lame excuses and fake criticisms for JJ.

Not quite, when he had the opportunities to prove that he had improved he miserably failed every time and you can’t dispute that because it is the truth.

Thanks for the compliment and the vote of confidence. It is good to know that I can get so under your skin at will and so easily. Your problem is the truth hurts. Hence, anytime I want to piss you off it’s simple; all I have to do is just tell the truth. Sucks to be you!

And part of chewing the clock is moving the chains. If necessary you throw to move the chains. We didn't do that. The offense was stagnant pretty much the whole game.
