My question is. Has anyone heard how good Chris Garret is? Charlie Hanagriff on the post game said he would probably be the 2nd QB on the depth chart next year. I hope Miles gives him a chance to be the 1st QB if Jefferson is still struggling next yr.

How was JR's play in his second year at LSU? You forget how little experience JJ has.
JJ is playing well above the level of most LSU Quarterbacks in their second year on Campus.

Russel 188-311-9 60.5 2443 15 203.6
Jefferson 150-235-5 63.8 1714 14 171.4

JR played in 12 games in '05, JJ has played in 11 this year.

They both had issues, but JR had freakish throwing ability that compensated for his other liabilities.

well, if you look at the numbers, were JR's that much better than JJ's his sophomore year? Plus JR had an extra year to learn the system.

According to every offensive coach at LSU in 2005 and 2006, including Jimbo Fisher, JR was way ahead of Flynn in terms of knowledge of the offense, ability to audible and check down, and control of the team. Fisher went as far to say that JR was one the best QBs he's ever had at audibling into better play at the line of scrimmage.

I hope JJ turns out to be as good as JR. If that's the case, we're in for a damn strong 2010 season.

Unlike the fellas who obviously see everything as color, I see it as ability. I see a QB who was given every oportunity over the course of a Spring, summer and fall and did not improve at all. His body language and facial expressions blame everything on everybody else. Just my un-racial opinion.

and an excellent one at that...

JJ cannot yet think or manage on his own. Everything is scripted for him. How in the world can you say that he manages the game so well when he takes so many sacks in critical situations?

In that sack against Arkansas on the last drive, where was the nearest route? Seriously. I agree the JJ needs to get rid of the ball quicker, but when your nearest rout is a 15 yard comeback route along the far side line (Randle's route), its hard to get rid of the ball in under four seconds.

Look what happened on the next four plays when Crowton finally figured it out and ran two medium routes and two short routes - four straight completions (two to the tight end, two to the RB) for 45 yards in less than a minute.

The Ole Miss sack was even worse. All three routes were 20 yards downfield with no drop off route and Jefferson is on a bad wheel.

whens the last time an LSU offense ranked 100+ in the nation??

who was the QB at that time??

Prior to the NC game, MF started 12 games i believe(peach+11(07').

as of right now, JJ has started 13 games if i'm not mistaken.

the JJ doesnt have much experience excuse needs to end. there are plenty of sophomore QB's that is able to lit it up. JJ hasnt shown so for the duration of the entire game not once this season. he might have 1-2 decent drives a game thats it. most of those were benefited by huge runs or penalties too.

This is a bit off topic, but JR reminds me of Vince Young, not because they are both black, but in size, agility, and talent. If I were JR, Id give Young a call. He could probably help JR, Id seriously hate to see JRs career end like this.

Jamarcus takes a sack with no timeouts against Auburn in '06 with the clock running down when all he has to do is throw it in the stands. Why are we trying to establish a running game in the same game with world class recievers?

Well known?? Flynn lost 2 games just like JR did. If it wasn't for Flynn having terrible games against Kentucky and Arkansas we would not have lost those two games.

If LSU finishes 10-3 show me another LSU true sophomore qb that can compare with his record. I know he isn't the greatest qb but as a first year starter he did what the coaches asked of him. Manage the offense and don't turn the ball over even the great Tim Tebow went 9-4 first year starting as a true sophomore. He went on to win the Heisman but when he was forced to be a qb vice a glorified fb he was average at best.
