Jordy was a good shooter. Anyone who really saw him play would remember he mostly shot the ball one handed, letting the ball roll off the tips of his fingers.

why is there a thread about Jordy. Why is there not a thread about Howard, Ethan, Dwayne,Leonard or Jerry R. I think it is Jacob Hester Syndrome.

Ethan Martin could shoot from the top of the key. Move a foot either way and then he was so so.
Rudy Macklin could deal as could Dewayne Scles. Lionel Tree Green and Floyd Baley

Streaky shooter. He got hot in a NCAA tourney game in his senior year. Maybe Indiana... He was never a starter. They called him the "Blonde Bomber".

Met him at the Dallas Maverick vs NO game in Dallas. He was a nice guy. Spent a few minutes to talk with me and the Mrs.

Yeah, why people give Jordy a hard time I don't understand. He's a helluva nice guy, intelligent, an LSU alum, and an ambassador for the school. If he didn't tan, no one would say a cross word about him. I don't get what the problem is.

All thay may be true, but we need a serious football guy (Gordy Rush or Greg Bowser) doing reports from the sideline of LSU football games, not an ex-basketball player trying to be a comedian.

Let Jordy take over Mr. High School's (Kevin Ford) job as Pre-Game and Post-Game host. He seems much more suited to that gig and would be a vast improvement over Ford......

Jordy did his share in this memorable OT win over Kentucky in '78 box score .......... BTW, this is an excellent historical site about UK hoops.

The only thing I haven't seen mentioned much here was that he was a tough and smart player. Average in every way except outside shooting but he didn't make stupid mistakes or turn the ball over.

I think it's a little of that (my Dad's favorite player is and always has been the white guy who plays the most) but I think also he is very much in the public eye.

I can scarcely turn on my radio or t.v. without seeing Jordy.

But I would agree there are many, many players who contributed more than Jordy.

Jordy came along when LSU basketball was gaining national exposure as a team as opposed to having one great player. He couldn't match the basketball skills of a Macklin or a Martin or a Scales or a Higgs, but few could. That's why he was a non-starter for the most part.

He was a role player and his role was instant offense and zone buster. If you looked at basket ball in his day and even today, non-starters with almost a double digit career scoring average are/were few and far between.

This is just me, but anyone who can score like that as a non-starter will have a spot on my team.

Sigma Chi-Late 70's = douche

I was in a frat at LSU in the late 70s and you are correct, for the most part. Some of those guys were not douches, but they had more than their share. We used to call them "milk and donut boys".

If you want a good picture of what all of LSU frat life was like in the 70's, watch this video from the late 1970's. At about the 3:20 mintues, the Sigma Chis show up. It is dead on.
