If we had a great-field-no-hit SS, then you bench Thompson and bat that guy ninth for the rest of the season.
All we have are meh to bad fielders who don’t bat near as well as Thompson.
JT is the best of several bad alternatives. Unfortunately, we just don’t have a SS.

Dugas came to LSU as a second baseman. Move D over to SS and take your locks . That puts two good bats in lineup.

Put Riley Cooper at short, his body should knock down most balls hit to him and since he's a pitcher he would definitely be more accurate throwing to first
