I graduated from ULL but grew up watching LSU and never stopped rooting for them. College choice was pretty much a business decision based on where I could get a full ride (back in the 90s).

I don’t get why anyone wouldn’t root for the flagship, which to me was always part and parcel to being from south Louisiana.

My best friend is a Bama "fan." I honestly don't think he could name 20 current Bama players. He actually comes to LSU games with me (I guess 3 in the last 2 years) and will miss the Bama game.

I have four tickets this Saturday but I can't have a Bama fan tag along

Yea I’m sure there is quite a few people in LA in the same boat as you with a friend who went there or goes there. People don’t realize a large portion of the student body at UA is from out of state so naturally, there will be a lot from LA. I’d be willing to bet Baton Rouge, Mandeville and NOLA sends quite a few kids to bama every year. The more they win, the more La kids want to go there for school

Bama fans thats from Louisiana

This is a phenomenon that has taken place since 2008. With all the #Bamabandwagon people in Louisiana, there is a common denominator. They either hate or have an issue with LSU for one reason or another. Until LSU starts beating Bama on a regular basis, #Bamabandwagon in Louisiana will continue to exist.

I know one that is a big Bama fan. Grew up his whole life in S LA. Couldn’t get into LSU, or Bama for that matter, but decides to take his anger out on LSU by cheering against them. It’s quite historical.

Any time I run across someone in a Bama shirt here in the Nola area , I ask them who coached at Bama before Saban and none of them have any idea .

You haven’t spent much time in Lafayette? Not saying everyone in Lafayette is this way but there is a pretty decent sized segment of Cajun folk who hate LSU here.

It’s not any worse than any other part of the state with another college. LSU, if they want them, can pick any recruit they want from Lafayette and they’ll get them 99% of the time. You can’t say that about New Orleans, North Louisiana, or even Baton Rouge. Hell, on LSU’s campus FFS.

That's not the term I'd use.

What I call that kind of trash is slightly more colorful....

Theres three types of people from Lafayette. People like me who love the tigers and are diehard fans and still like ULL. but rarely go to ULL events and go to LSU events often.

Then there are people who equally fan of both. these are generally nice people and make up most of Laffy

then there is the diehard cajuns who hate everything about LSU and think ULL should be on same level. these people never lived outside of lafayette and are extremely negative people with a losing cULture! and the funniest part is they loved to lowkey come to BR on game days and party like a rockstar while wearing an LSU shirt. truly pathetic. and of course they bandwagon Bama

Dude you're nuts there's maybe 10% of the people who dislike LSU only bc they graduated from UL and they get shite from LSU graduates about their school. When you actually talk to them about the sports outside of the two team playing each other, they could care less.

The ones that hold a grudge and actually hate LSU is even less. Probably like 5%. Almost every person I know who live in Laffy which is a lot of people, love the Tigers. It's morons like you who they hate.

Many of them are pathetic ULL fans who live their miserable football lives via Alabama because they cannot beat LSU.

I'm a LSU fan in Georgia. No big deal until UGA got good again. Now everyone always asks what went wrong with me haha. I don't think people have to root for the home team anymore. With tv, it's a global market

I think the problem is that some want U La La to be considered BIG TIME. For them going to the New Orleans Bowl was the same as going to BCS Championship. I remember when they went 0-10 then the following year moved up from small college ranks to "Big Time" USL couldn't compete with the likes of McNeese, Northwestern, Northeastern (now ULM) and La Tech any longer.

BTW, it was friends who were alum of SLI (previous name of USL) and USL who began to call it it U (pronounced oo) La La when they changed the name.

I've noticed that a large percentage of culcha considers themselves "Bama fans". They really aren't Bama fans as much as they are jealous that Southern and Grambling doesn't get the same attention that LSU does.

Anybody could go to their local Walmart and buy a shirt and a sticker for their car.
