In this case, most of the commentators (and fans) hate the arbitrariness of the "excessive celebration penalty" and think it takes the "emotion" out of the game. This gives them a good platform to rail against it - especially when it isn't taunting.
Tony Barnhart will look at this issue in dept tonight at 8pm our time, on CBS C, channel 303 - Charter

I seriously doubt Herb even watched the game. He's sounding like a arse. He can't be that indifferent to what a wonderful and exciting game it was. ESPN should suspend him for excessive inaccuracy. To make it seem like LSU won only because of that penalty. What bullshite. Oh and Corso is dick too.

He also has USC rated higher than LSU, even though LSU beat Washington and has no losses.
LSU>Washington>USC
So did Brent Musberger ... I started a thread about that earlier but it got whacked for some reason ... is the freakin' Church Lady monitoring the Rant?? What can be more clear evidence of the ridiculous bias given to Petey Carroll ... we go on the road and beat UW; USC loses to them, yet these arse-kissers rate them higher?

everytime this assclown opens his mouth during Gameday we should Boooooo his arse.
He was one of the few to pick LSU over Georgia. But his viewpoint of the penalty was just dumb.
I say we give UGA the 15 yards back and they give Charles Scott 15 more yards for his TD run.....settled.

Herbie was very fair in his analysis. If cannot see that, there is no help for you anyway when it comes to understanding college football.
I don't think Herbie is acting out of a particular bias, but it is a mistake to focus on that one call and not deal with other potentially game changing errors by the refs, as in the nonfumble by Shepard when the refs moved the ball four yards back from where Shepard was actually down. That error potentially had as much impact as the celebration call.

Yes, he is from OSU....
And you have to think bout ESPN's crowb. Their two biggest markets are West Coast and Midwest...
Big 10 and Pac 10....
They cater to their largest constituency.

The one thing I don't understand is how the SEC can say the penalty on Green was a mistake and the penalty on Scott was the right decision. I have watched the replay over and Scott did less than Green. Both of the penalties were BS but how can the SEC say one was wrong and the other was OK?

But he has USC ranked ahead of LSU - why?

Herb. says that he has USC in his Top 5 because he "thinks they will improve" while he says LSU is "unimpressive". What?
That is exactly what I thought. How can the basis for one team be "they will get better" even though they lost but LSU has an "unimpressive" 5 and 0. I don't understand the logic there. Is he saying LSU won't get any better? I find that hard to believe and a pretty ridiculous assesment from a so called professional. College Football Live pissed me off so bad today, I just deleted it without finishing. They totally shite on LSU today and I couldn't stand it any more. Normally I can blow it off but this was over the top today with the rankings discussion and the total disrespect in regards to the GA win.

I was just commenting on the fact that you called it "O-fig-o" state university.
I mean, what are you, eleven?

Just watched that crap. How on Earth can they discount LSU's return, and Scott's great run. Unbelievable they can say all of that with straight faces. Media today is pitiful.
for real, sure the penalty for excessive celebration was ridiculous but they are completely discounting the return from Holiday and then the penalty they got on that kickoff, those two things that happened afterward are why they lost
we got penalized for the exact same thing but we didnt allow them to return it far and were disciplined enough to not get a penalty on the kickoff
the media is once again focusing on the wrong thing and showing more disrespect towards LSU and the win we had against UGA

So a team who is 5-0 who beat Washington isn't better than a team who has a loss and lost to Washington.
Apparently not in douchenut world.

The thing i don't understand on the rankings, is how he can bash LSU for not "living up to its Potential", but at the same time put USC ahead of LSU because of its potential. If you just base it on what you have seen so far then you have a team that has lost vs. a team that hasn't. Playing very similar competition, including Washington.

I am not going to chastise anyone or discredit their being on TV because of football knowledge or lackthereof.
All I ask you, Tiger fans, is...If the situation was reciprocated, and we lost to Washington and was our only loss...and USC was 5-0, do you think their power rankings would have been the same?
...That's what I thought.

I heard a few people speaking about LSU barely beating Washington, prior to the USC vs Washington game. BUT, I don't recall ANYONE on ESPN talking about it after the USC loss to Washington.
When these arse munches’ get to discussing who’s who in college football you would think it would mater. However, it does not help USC, so they just talk about something else. Like ONE BAD CALL in the LSU vs Georgia game. ESPN is sooooo bias, but this is not news to anyone on this message board!
Mark May is the one that needs his arse kicked! He sucks so much USC cock week in and week out that it makes me nauseous!

I will promise you one thing. Beat Fla. this weekend....by 1 or by 40...and you will hear no more about LSU being overrated. And, I will guarantee that Herbie will have LSU in his top 5.
