I don't know the last game where we only gained 150 yards let alone a couple times last year.

We went over 400 or close to it against ole miss, t&m, bama, tennessee, florida, and Vandy

We were especially inept against auburn, wvu, ulm, and mcnesse st

We were so inconsistent last year whether it was passing or rushing or both. We could gain yards on the good and bad but we also couldn't gain yards on the good or bad. JJ was a hot mess for about 7 or 8 games straight but having Lee as the back up really came in handy for us last year.

I believe a hundred percent that this offense can take us undefeated to N.O. We have so much talented depth that it's ridiculous. Nobody in the SEC has AS much talented depth at qb, rb, and wr, as we do.

If JJ falters we have a fifth year senior in JL who could be at least serviceable and a talented Mett who could also give us average play this year.

Our 3 deep at rb is ware, ford, and blue/gore and if "nobody gave me a chance" Ridley could hit a grand in yards then I know at least one of our rbs this year could too.

I think both shep and Randle have breakout seasons for lsu and I know at least one of the potential 4 wrs can fill the 3rd wr spot. What I hope is that shep can catch the ball deep this year because your #2 wr is usually your speed guy with your #1 obviously the complete one.

OL could be the best since 07 with Blackwell, Hurst, lonergan, and pretty good 2 position back up T-bob.

Watching the replays lately - lots of drives killed by penalties. More than I realized during the season. We'll improve 20% just alleviating the mental errors.

All I'm saying is you can't have an average and take out what doesn't prove your point! Averages don't work that way. And besides, it appears that our best offensive production came against better competition (UNC, UA, Ole Miss, Arky & TAMU)

341 ypg doesn't mean that you get 341 yards every game. It just doesn't happen that way. You get 450 one game and 232 the next. When you play Bama you just hope to score more than 10 w/ 250 yards in offense.

Truth ...

I'm also saying ... after carefully looking at the SEC Champion statistics these past 4 years
If we can do 400 ypg & 35 ppg ... average ... that these stats combined with an average LSU very good defense these past four years ALLOWING ONLY 300 - 320 ypg and less than 20 ppg

There will be no stopping LSU and we'll be 8-0 headed into Tuscaloosa playing for a NC right there.

I dont care if we have 100 or 400 yds a game, as long as we win!! Although, I would much rather watch a 400 yd performance.

The big games have a way of working around the averages ... this is understandable ... Just win and screw the stats ... But the averages "DO TELL THE TALE AND THEY ARE TRUTH" and they will be proven to be "TRUTH" again this season.

Remember ... what is our goal!!!

Championships!

How did we last do it? What were our average stats in 2007 ...

2007 Offense ... 430+ ypg & 38.6 ppg

2007 Defense ... 288 ypg & 20 ppg

The 2010 defense allowed only 307 ypg, and this defense will be another very good one, getting stronger and better as the season progresses.

Coach Krags holds the key ... LSU can win it all!

Give Krags a raise!

There are only 2 teams in the SEC that have the talent and experience to keep every defense on their heels and that's LSU and Ark.

And arguably Alabama if they find a QB in time

The difference is that Ark forgot teams have to play defense too.

This ... We're gonna kill 'em at home this year

this!

IT's a long season and we'll have attrition as always ... This team is going all the way!

Can Krags deliver a 20% statistical improvement?

Uh oh. Gonna go citing statistics? Better prepare for the JJ support team to come piling on-first rebuttal will be Crowton's offense was too complicated, followed by citing his W-L record, then his rushing statistics, then his age, then his crummy offensive line, then his receivers can't catch, etc.

If JJ resembles an SEC QB that opposing defenses have to actually respect this season, then SK wins the award for Coordinator of the year in a landslide.

Back to the OP, there are plenty of examples of stellar coordinators that failed as head coaches-let's hope that applies here.

Guys, you want to bet this rube. He told folks on Tiger Forums that after LSU beat Ole Miss at Ole Miss in 2003 that it had "lost its shot" at the BCS that night.

I hope he didn't bet the farm.

His influence on Bledsoe in Buffalo is somewhat significant, but otherwise, he can't, because Krags himself admits that he lets other OC's (ala Charlie Stubbs, Jeff Brohm) put their marks on the offense, and makes it a collaborative effort.

Charlie Stubbs down at Nichols was his OC at Tulsa & at U of L, then it was Brohm, & then it was himself. The stats where he did it himself were the worst he'd posted in his career, and they got him fired, so I'm not sure you'd want to use those.

Otherwise, I guess we could jump in the wayback machine and pull out some A&M stats from 1998 or 1999. Because those are extremely relevant to the discussion, LOL.

I was also 19. Times change. I doubt you can look at that year and take anything from it.

Having said that, there are tapes up on Smart Football right now that show Mumme & Leach destroying LSU in Tiger Stadium while they were at Kentucky with crossing routes & 6 (all vert) routes all night long.

Again, they went I-Formation & won with Dat Motherlovin Nguyen, dude.

How about a bet, Funk ... If I'm wrong on the stats after WV ... I'll disappear ... If I'm right, you disappear ... Your move!

I dont think anyone in business agrees with your definition that Peter Principle only applies to bureaucracies.
If you look at the HC job, it includes a broader scope of functions and includes supervision, recruiting, media and much more.
Its the CEO job.

I suspect the OP is correct. Its a much simpler job to be the OC of LSU than be HC of Louisville and the Peter principle is a reasonable metaphor.

everything about that thread is deceptive. We had a couple huge performances which makes or ypg look better than they really were. It would be nice to simply average 341ypg or better by actually gaining 341 ypg instead of gaining 150ypg several times and then boosting that number with a few huge performances.

Do you understand the meaning of the word average?
How is an average figured?
I'll hang up and listen.
Thank you.
