How many of you cared about LSU basketball before Ben Simmons signed his letter of intent?

What leads you to believe that this team is capable of "getting it together"? They just lost 3 straight in embarrassing fashion, all to teams that LSU is equivicobly far more talented than. I have been patient for 3 years as I have seen JJ-coached teams lose to inferior opposition while playing with poor fundamentals, mental mistakes, and with long stretches of ice-cold shooting. We were told each year that they weren't talented enough to seriously compete yet. Each year, the same issues lingered unaddressed, and the team's improvement was mild at best.

This was supposed to be LSU's year. This roster is probably one of the 5 or 10 most talented rosters in collegiate basketball, with multiple future NBA players, and they just lost to College of Charleston. Sure, college basketball has a lot of parity. On any given night, nearly any team can beat any other team. Heck, a Johnny Jones coached LSU team beat Kentucky. However, this is no longer a fluke. This is 3 in a row. They blew a 22 point lead to NC State. They just lost by double digits to college of Charleston. This isn't parity any more, it's parody. At this point, I'm not even sure if Johnny Jones deserves to coach another game at LSU. If he doesn't right the ship before conference play begins, he needs to go.

A team this talented has no business playing like a bunch of undisciplined kids in West Philadelphia, born and raised, on the playground spending their days, chillin' out maxin' relaxin all cool an all shootin' some b-ball outside of the school. This team should be competing for an SEC title, pushing for the Sweet 16 or Final 4, not sitting at 2-3 to start the year.

you are so full of it !!! way too early so say Marquette or NC State are bad teams and I can assure you from watching College of Charleston play many, many times over the years they NEVER have a bad team. we're still playing with a bunch of very young kids; give them some time & they may come around, especially after Hornsby gets back on the floor. I'll admit JJ is not Calipari (THANK GOD) but he's not a total prick like the one before who wouldn't even let the son of Pete Maravich play in his final game.

Basketball is different from football, a top class like he had should equate to wins over these scrub teams. These Last 2 games Have been dropped due to terrible coaching.

Are you really justifying 3 losses out of the first 6 games? Come on dude our whole starting five are all top 100 guys. This should never happen. NC state is poo poo and Marquette already lost to Belmont and got destroyed by Iowa. Don't act like they are good teams. Just by watching us you can see how undisciplined and little league this team plays. All of the same problems are occurring yet again this year and you had freaking Austrailia to get this shite out of your system. It's absolutely inexcusable! This is a run n gun team that has no clue how to defend anyone. Any team with any decent bigs will destroy us down low. Victor will provide a little depth but for the most part people will be surprised to know that Victor is not as polished as some may think. Hornsby will provide leadership but he's just another guard on a team full of guards. We will see but I'm not very optimistic. I honestly thought JJ had maybe learned from prior years mistakes. Sounds eerily familiar doesn't it

whoever said this is stupid. last year, there was 1 team that had MORE talent than lsu and i think everybody can guess who that was. the year before, lsu had top 4 talent in the sec. lsu has not even come CLOSE to matching the potential of the individual talent.

this was the point the commentators made during the marquette game. they should have come back from australia looking solid and competitive. WE'RE NOT EVEN COMPETITIVE.

lsu ousts musselman and goes down the toilet. coincidence?

He's played very little basketball in the last 2 years. I think it will take time for him to really make any kind of difference for us. He will grab some boards but offensively he needs some work. Hell he just needs to play more basketball. There's a reason he didn't really see the floor at Arizona. Don't get me wrong he will provide quality depth but a difference maker? No

LSU needs to stop starting and playing 3 guards and 2 F's or 1 F and 1 C.

Aaron Epps is flat out awesome. He was 4-5 FG's and 1-2 3 pointers. Not to mention 5 Rebounds and 2 blocks in half the time everyone else played (21 minutes). I guess Blakney just had an off night or rather a horrible night.

LSU should have two different Line Up's based on the types of teams they play. They should have a Power Line Up and a Shooting Line Up.

Total minutes for each player based on their position in the type of line up used, i.e. Power or Shooting:
Simmons (40 minutes) - Both Power and Shooting Line Up
Epps (35 minutes) - Both Power and Shooting Line Up
Quarterman (30 minutes) - Both Power and Shooting Line Up
Bridgewater (30 minutes) - Power Line Up.
Bridgewater (15-20 minutes) - Shooting Line Up.
Blakney (15-20 minutes) - Power Line Up
Blakney (30 minutes) - Shooting Line Up.
Patterson (15-20 minutes) Power and Shooting Line Up.
Gray (15-20 minutes) Power and Shooting Line Up.
The remaining (5 minutes) goes to whoever has the hot hand.

This should be the Power Line Up:
Simmons (Center)
Bridgewater (Power Forward) Rotate - Epps (Power Forward)
Epps (Shooting Forward) Rotate - Blakney (Shooting Forward)
Blakney (Shooting Guard) Rotate - Patterson (Shooting Guard)
Quarterman (Point Guard) Rotate - Gray (Point Guard)

This should be the 3pt. Shooting Line Up:
Simmons (Center)
Epps (Power Forward) Rotate - Bridgewater (Power Forward)
Blakney (Shooting Forward) Rotate - Epps (Shooting Forward)
Patterson (Shooting Guard) Rotate - Gray (Shooting Guard)
Quarterman (Point Guard) Rotate - Gray (Point Guard)

1) I think Epps is way underrated. I think Bridgewater gives us a dominate PF against bigger teams.
2) Moving Simmons to Center will give us even better Defense and Rebounding, plus on Offense, Simmons can dominate in the Paint, Plus he can always move out of the Paint to shoot a Jump Shot or a 3.
3) Blakney cannot have a game like he did

The three losses are VERY disappointing especially tonight.

Still I will wait until the season ends to make a judgment.

And I am no Ben Simmons bandwagoner. Been a MBB season ticket holder since 1977.

No he hasn't... he is a good recruiter but he is a train wreck, godawful, pitiful excuse for a basketball coach. We aren't going to the NCAA tourney this year hopefully he is fired in March.

You are way too high on Epps and Bridgewater. At their best they are adequate. They are both liabilities on man defense. Bridgewater is the shortest power forward in college basketball. He did okay at times today because their tallest guy was 6'7".

Here is what is wrong. Simmons has to post up on offense. He cannot play point forward and stay out on the perimeter. We should have killed these guys today because we had a lot more height. But if that 6'10" is out on the perimeter it does you no good. And Simmons has proved beyond a doubt he can't shoot from out there. Hell he can't shoot all that great next to the basket but he is our best bet there. When he drives from the perimeter and draws the defense to him he doesn't have a reliable big to dump the ball to. So the only thing he can do is dump it in the corner to a guard. And for whatever reason, Blakeney and Sampson are cold as ice.
