Poor Jamie Howard. He was a great quarterback in high school, and could very easily have become a great college quarterback, but was thrown to the wolves as a true freshman with basically no supporting cast. The 2-9 season that resulted, along with having to run for his life most of the time, left him a little shell shocked, I think, and he never really regained his confidence after that. Making matters worse was the fact that he had to try to develop his abilities while overcoming the effects of being coached by Lynn Amedee. The combination of all of it was just too much for him to overcome and reach his full potential. He did, however, develop into a pretty good quarterback his senior year before he got hurt, an injury that ended both his football career and his professional baseball career.
I heard years later that he had started his own business and was doing well with it. I hope so. He sure went through the wringer while he was in college, but he hung in there and gave it his best shot, and was instrumental in the turnaround that occurred in 1995
Thanks for the words of support NUTS4LSU. Jamie is a good friend of mine and its hard to read the negativity on this board and to hear the bashing he gets for the Auburn game. He is a great guy and didn't deserve what he went through on and off the field during his career at LSU. The media and students were very hard on him, and thats an understatement.
Jamie did started his own business after college. His business is doing VERY well and he has a beautiful family.
Thanks again NUTS4LSU!

I think Jamie howard was a decent college qb in a shitty situation . I also think Jamarcus was the best qb I have ever seen play for LSU . Matt Flynn, IMO, was an average qb on his best days . He had a great supporting cast and was a great character guy .
