re: Lee and having heart

Great post Baloo. I live in Tenn now, and couldn't help but think of Vince Young of the Titans. He was booed, and refused to go back into the game, only to be talked into going back. He soon left with a leg issue. As most know, later he was acting in questionable manner and was treated by a Psych. It was his first time to face boos in his life and he crumbled. To have talent and succeed, is no big deal.
Young gets paid zillions of dollars to play. Lee plays for the school that he loves, his family, his coaches, his teammates, AND THE LSU FANS. Football success aside, I know who I want next to me when times get tough. For me, it's not just about winning every game, but who hangs with you when you need help. We have had some great teams and great leaders, but none have had to endure the pressure put on this young man. I am thankful that I have such young men representing my LSU TIGERS.

You are not going to run on our defense and there's not a chance in hell LSU plays a one dimensional pass game with Mr. Pick 6 and beats us.
No, we are going to jam the ball down ya'lls fricking throat. When you stack the box, we're going to pass. Your inept secondary, which is ranked LAST will not be able to do shite against our offense.
Your pass defense is ranked behind:
- Arkansas
- Kentucky
- Vandy
- Mississippi State
- Auburn
- Alabama
- Georgia
- LSU
- Tenne-fricking-see
- Florida
- South Carolina
You guys suck at defending the pass! Jarrett Lee, despite his shortcomings is the 4th ranked passer in the SEC.
Out of the entire NCAA, you rank 42 fricking slots behind Troy!

You are the delusional one.
ETA: You are giving up an average of 225 yards a game in the air, and 1 1/2 passing TD's. Since Lee can't pass for 1/2 a touchdown, and we're gonna be up by 50 anyways, they'll let Lee air it out for one. Just to pump up Byrd's stats for the draft. Your run defense sucks too, but it's only second to last in the league.
After the game, Lee is going to drive to your house, and bang your girl too.

Baloo, Great post. I agree 100% There will be some Tiger fans eating crow before this kids career is done.
Hold that thought Snapper. When he leads us to many future victories, lets do a tailgate site where we serve CROW GUMBO, and see how many have the balls to show up. A search of the Rant could produce a list of names to call out.

Which is what makes the booing of Lee so mystifying to me.
As much as I hate the "fan police," I agree, it is really silly, especially in pregame intros.

quote:I personally would never boo him, but if he wants the boos to stop, there's one simple answer to make them go away. STOP frickING THROWING PICK 6'S!! Most reasonable Tiger fans can accept a freshman QB throwing a few interceptions, but to keep giving the game away to the other team is unacceptable as a QB. You have to PROTECT THE frickING FOOTBALL. It's the very reason you are there, to protect it and help your team score points, and not put the defense in a hole.
It makes me so angry when I hear people boo him. I've said this before, but I don't understand why people continue to do it. A lot of the fans don't like him
What's so hard to get about this. Just throw the damn ball out of bounds if you don't have an open receiver. Anyone would accept that, and just take the incompletion and move on to the next play. It's when the kid keeps doing the same dumb thing over and over that is getting everyone angry enough to boo. If he wants to stop the boos, stop doing the dumb things every week.

quote:I agree 100%. I was thinking about this right after the Troy game. I really cannot think of any player in LSU history that embodies this more than Lee. Of course, that's mostly because most players in LSU history that have made that many mistakes have had a better option available behind them to take their place. But Lee really does seem totally unaware of how badly he was playing the last play, series, half, whatever. And he has shown some great potential.
He has what all great athletes have...A short memory. Great Basketball players dont remember going 0-10 in the first half. Great cornerbacks dont remember getting burned for big plays. Great baseball hitters dont remember slumps.
If he can just get this insane, schizophrenic-level inconsistency under control, he could turn out to be great.

Wow, am I dumb, I thought it was inexperience and the pressure of leading the defending NC in front of a rabid fan base, in the strongest conference in CFB, after being hurt in preseason and spliting snaps. Give him a pill and send him back out there.

i give props to Lee...I couldn't take 40,000 plus fans booing my arse on one Saturday and then go out again the next Saturday knowing that most of these people expect me to fail...the kid has heart....

I believe he originally wrote this for another site where dropping the f bomb might have been inappropriate.

I like that moniker. You're obviously a Kipling fan. Nice post.

great post man. I think the majority of Tiger fans feel this way on Lee. The ones that are bashing him are the ones expressing their opinions on him though. I wrote a little piece in my article this week on Lee. He isn't a "game manager" QB. In fact I think making him play that way is what makes him lose confidence. We should just let him be a gunslinger and take our chances IMO. Open the playbook. We have to look better then smashing the ball into a 9 man front.

Baloo,
Thanks for the well written post, and I for one, don't think this attitude can be expressed enough.
After being on TD/scoreboard during the Troy game, I have decided to essetially stay away from this site more, (I am sure there are those celebrating this right now...) because the negativity and esp. the bashing of players (esp. Jarrett) just started making me sick to my stomach. But I do want to post and support this thread.
I don't live in a world of Tiger fans, and being around the Gump-toids all the time makes me WISH that they are the most obnoxious of CFB fans. However, I am discovering that their self-loving, coach-sucking, holier than thou attitudes are not even as bad as "hearing" LSU fans attack their own players and coaches. The excuse is that it makes them feel "honest" or "unbiased" and that may make them somehow seem more knowledgable or something. In reality, from a distanced point of view, it just makes them seem mean-spirited and very, very selfish and spoiled. And while I HOPE that wouldn't affect recriuting, as a parent I can honestly see where it would.
JMO.

Shelby is correct. I modified it a tad for this site. but, since, Tiger n ATL insists:
frick you, you loser.

Supportive fans need to continue to post, if not, the perception of LSU fans will be one dimensional.

I felt the same way. It would make interesting reading now that the results are known. I even had a passing thought of a thread with certain posts and the authors. I still may do it, they deserve to be "recognized".

My guess is that most, if not all, are very young. Therefore, their experience is nothing but success. It has made them feel superior to others and they act like it, even to our own players and coaches.

I agree. The irony, of wanting to have success, but possibly negatively affecting this goal.

Baloo...Nice post
I am sure alot of fans will be eating crow real soon..With that said, I often wonder what ever happened to "We win as a team, we lose as a team, because we are a team"?? I will never understand how people can say that one person is responsible for a lose??
He is truly a strong KID...
& Geaux Lee

i am bringing a friend in for her first game in tiger stadium and i am worried that fans are going to boo and i am going to have to explain to her that our fans suck these days.
its going to be really embarrassing to be in that stadium and hear people booing and then watch them leave at half time.
