Lee's pick troubled me. Hatch seemed more comfortable at the helm, but Lee has the arm and will be # 1 eventually. Guy's the dude is a red-shirt freshman. His toss to the end-zone under pressure was great.

The fact that he was still looking downfield was great, but the pass was grossly underthrown. Lafell definitely had to come back for it.

We cant beat any SEC team with a QB that cant throw the ball 10 downfield. He looked like a high school QB.

Lee will make mistaks just like Matt Statford did at UGA his freshman year but he needs to be out there.

Yeah that under thrown ball to Byrd in the endzone was so clutch by Hatch. It should have been picked.

The QB position this year will be judged by who makes the most mistakes vs. who makes the least. By your own admission, neither are Davey O'Brien candidates, so why would you want to put the QB who makes the most mistakes in the game, vs. the one who does not? Being able to throw the ball 20 yards further than your competition doesn't translate into more wins if you are busy locking in on one receiver and throwing into triple coverage.

I agree that Lee was nervous, forced the ball a few times, but please remember that he missed a lot of practice the past few weeks and will improve with more reps and real game experience. His arm looked REALLY good to me and I think he has very good upside potential. It was his first live game experience for a game that started at 10 a.m. and the stands were empty in the second half, which equals no energy and a lack on intensity on the field.

IMHO.

Without the INT, I might agree. Both guys looked poised in the pocket, and both managed the game well. Both had a stupid pass that hit a defender in the hands, but in both of those cases the defender was unable to complete the interception. And Lee's interception was a really, really ill-advised pass.

Having said that, both QBs did not look off their receivers. All of that is correctable with coaching. I don't think that Hatch or Lee have the range of Flynn. Lee probably has more range than Mauck did, and Hatch maybe a little less. Lee looks to have a little more touch on his passes, while Hatch either has a quicker release or is just more decisive when he decides to throw. I would have to watch the replay to know for sure.

I wasn't impressed with either of them. Much improvement is needed before SEC play begins.

Hatch was the more mentally aware QB on the field. Definitely seemed more confident in the pocket. Lee stared down 1 WR almost every time & didn't seem to notice defenders in the area.

But Lee's throwing mechanics look better than Hatch. That short arm throwing motion is not going to be successful against SEC defenses.

Expected Jefferson to get some playing time, but I think the coaches realized that Hatch & Lee needed many more reps after the way they looked on the field.

What game did you watch? hatch ran the offense, Lee looked to the sidelines for each play because he could not read the defense( that is why the WR and RB's looked to the side as well.. to get the play ). I think Lee has a cannon for an arm, but he is not where hatch is yet.

I noticed on Lee's interception he looked right at the receiver he was throwing to from the get go. I hope both Hatch and Lee can learn to look around more before throwing the ball. Drives me nuts when they do that. Even JR used to do this a lot.

I wouldn't necessarily say Lee looked way better. But I am in the camp of letting Lee play and take his lumps. He could really mature in a few games and allow us to really open up the offense by the end of the season.

Hatch will be about the same all year... slow and steady, minor mistakes, minor big plays (passing game).

Lee hasn't showed any signs that he will be better than hatch why are people trying to say he is better when we witnessed that isn't the case. I-59 tigers was just trying to get people pissed off jackass

Sorry, I can't agree with you on this one. Neither guy looked great, but hatch looked more comfortable IMO.

Hatch can throw the 20 yard pass but he puts his body into it. Lee's delivery is quicker with less effort. But Hatch looked MUCH more comfortable. Lee is going to cause some delay of game penalties early on.

Lee can actually throw the ball down field. Hatch is limited to the 10-15 yard throws... and even those seem to be a stretch.

Hatch's strengths are mobility and mental aptitude. He won't get a stronger arm.

Lee has a stronger arm, and can develop mental aptitude.

Pretty simple reasoning as to why he can improve and Hatch will pretty much stay the same.

Glad you are up for a good discussion. Come back when you hit 16.

SO what do you want. Slow and steady all year maybe 8-4 with Hatch or Let Lee take his lumps, get better, and eventually open up the playbook more and maybe finish the season 10-2, 9-3.

We won't win more than 8 games with Hatch.

Um, Hatch stared down his main receiver every time too. And he didn't stay in the pocket often.

Exactly. I'm not sure why you are replying to me, because I'm in agreeance with you.

Hatch really does nothing for this team other than keep us away from penalties. I know people will defend to the end that he won't cause turnovers, but he will cause the offense to become one dimensional and all the good defenses Georgia, Auburn, (apparently Bama) load up to stop the run.

YOU HAVE to let Lee take his lumps. It will be ugly at times. But he will catch on as the season wears on and perhaps even more importantly next year, when we have a fighting chance at the MNC.

Didn't say that he did. Just that he clearly looked more comfortable back there behind center.
