Larry Coker took over for Butch Davis. Davis went 50-21 - 71.8 & a losing season in his 3rd year. No National Championship. Coker went 60-15 80%, no losing season & Won a National Championship
and everyone pretty much agrees butch is the better coach. he BUILT that program

no he was fired for his coaching and recruiting. look at their records sliding and talent get depleted

at the end of the game? you bet we go for all of those 4th downs except possibly the one where we scored the TD
My arse.........Saban is a FG kicking son of a bitch.........

if byrd drops that pass, then it's one of those situations where we lose and the complain about it for 10 years while posting the pictures of time left as the ball squirts out talking about how we got robbed by AU
Again, NO..........this isn't 1995.......we have instant replay and there was CLEARLY plenty of time left on the clock........quit making shite up.

632 yards given up by Saban to Florida in 2001? That was one of Saban's "Good" LSU teams.
nobody said the D was great on 2001 LSU. we just had an insane offense by the end of the year. saban realized his D was shite, and we adjusted as the year went on to rely on our offense, and it led to a 3-loss year in which we beat the 2nd best team in the country to win the SEC and then won the sugar
when miles was faced with a team that had a shaky D (2008), in response he limited the offense, which caused our team to get embarassed as the regular season ended (Troy, Ole Miss, Arky)
i wouldn't bring up 2001 to diss saban when we have 2008 to compare it to.

but in the big picture, big wins matter. first, we are judge subjectively, and big wins matter (as they should). second, if we play for close games every week, we will lose games we shouldn't (UK, Arky in 2007) more often than we should
Your ridiculous, and if you want to look at the big picture, Les Miles has so many more big wins than Saban it isn't comparable.

these timing issues happen EVERY year. human timekeepers react slowly b/c they're human and hundreds of yards away from the game itself. how many times have you seen one of these plays reviewed?
also, people seem to constantly forget the retarded decision to kick a PAT after that TD and not go for 2

The Florida game in 07 the one in which Miles went for 5 4th downs..........SABAN WOULD HAVE NEVER DONE IT.

"We have a good coach, but an even bigger inferiority complex"
This really is true.
This really is true.

My point is that a wins a win. Les miles has a great record against some of our biggest rivals.
Some of these Sabanistas just won't let go of their man-crush.
Other than the 2005 SECCG ,I can't recall any other Miles' team that mailed it in that afternoon. Saban led LSU to some of its poorest, laziest efforts imaginable. The 2001 Florida game was one of the worst prepared LSU teams I've ever seen (and that includes Stovall,Archer and Hallman teams).
How could a team after winning the SEC title go into Blacksburg for its first game of the season so uninspired and undisciplined and get its head handed to it on a platter ? That whole 2002 season was just a horribly coached team.
Look,Saban by and large did a fantastic job. But you Sabanistas refuse to acknowledge any short-comings (no pun) on his part while you are intent on only diminishing Miles' accomplishments. Can't have it both ways.

Many, many times..........you just drowning it out to support your arguement.

I never understood why Tuberville didn't challenge the time. It looked like it should have stopped at :04. Sure, that'd been a needle in the haystack, but in the LSU-Auburn series ,anything happens. Fair catch the kick and who knows what could have happened.

2001 SECCG: upset the 2nd best team in the country
2002: UF (on the road at UF)
2003: auburn, UGA in regular season, UGA in SECCG
miles:
2007: VT, OSU
we lost to our 2 great teams in 2006 and blew out no good teams. nothing of note in 2005 (the bama win was big at the time, but they showed they were a fraud over the entire course of that year)
when we get to play big10 (i include ND in this b/c theys hould be in the big10 based on geogrphy, academics, and style of play) or ACC trash, we often win big under miles. i don't doubt that. saban had many more "big" wins in the SEC

you're right. we would have punted on those 4th downs, giving up the game. saban never went for 4th downs at the end of games

i've never seen an LSU team play down to competition worse than that 2006 LSU team against Ole Miss
and we all know how much i love that 2006 LSU team

Your kidding right........your gonna list 2 games as signature wins in Miles career......
I mean he did win at Bama when they were #3 in the nation.......he did win at Tennessee for the 1st time since like the 70s.......
He did win against the defending national champs and Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow
He did blow out ND in a BCS bowl game..........He did win at Auburn for the 1st time in 7 years...........

Saban would have kicked a fg and played D with 5 mins left guaranteed......Saban lost so many games kicking fgs and playing D..........
Pathetic arse Kentucky game, Pathetic arse Arky game in which the most athletic player you ever have witnessed completed 3 straight passes on the same route to lose a trip to the SEC championship game, pathetic arse Iowa game in which he couldn't decide which fricking qb to play only to gain the lead and again give up a big pass to lose a game.........

Is this argument about who the better coach out of Saban and Miles is? This would be laughable. Without good coordinators, we see how Miles' units perform. Without Crowton the O under achieved big time. Our D has been less than stellar since Miles arrived in Baton Rouge. Bend and don't break with Pelini and then 2008's attempt at playing defense with the 2 clowns.

also, miles mishandling QB recruiting and the RP situation left us with a black holle
Miles is the only LSU Coach to ever sign 2 #1 ranked QBs. LSU has the #1, #8, #7 & #16 on the LSU's roster. What's a "Black Holle"?

but most of all, miles' hiring of maleveto was mind-numbingly bad. inexcusable and just all around horrible
Almost as mind-numbingly bad as the John Thompson fiasco? BTW, "Maleveto" defense never gave up 632 yards.
