I unfortunately like to watch the season as its being played/made as its a game for our entertainment. It's like watching a new born learn to eat. You just want to grab the spoon from him and feed it to him instead of him dropping most of it on the floor and wiping the rest on his cheeks while a small amount actually gets eaten but just enough to satisfy his appetite. That's a Les Miles game for you.

How about a raise for Stud?

Love me some Les. Yeah he's quirky. Yeah he makes me scratch my head often. Yeah clock management has been an issue a handful of times. Yeah he talks weird and acts goofy.
But that dude knows how to recruit, knows how to motivate, knows how to work LSUs brand into the national media, and he just flat out knows how to run a successful program that has nestled itself into college football's perennial elite club.
Call him an idiot. Call him overpaid. Call him stubborn. All those things are accurate occasionally. But you can also call him LSUs head coach, and as long as they're calling him that, I'm behind him and his program 100%.
Les + LSU is an eccentric match made in heaven. Now if we could just get Saban out of Tuscaloosa, we'd be set for another 5-10 years.

Winning is what really matters, but apparently that isn't good enough.
the problem is we watch our favorite team differently that we watch other games. A good example is the Oregon/Oregon State game a few weeks ago. An LSU fan watching that game would see an exciting game where OSU played great to come within a hair of beating their big rival. Plug LSU into that same situation, a fortunate win at home against a big underdog, and this place would have been in meltdown.

Saban is Manda.
Malzahn is Jimmy Dean.
Miles is the Wal-Mart off brand that's on sale at the end of the refrigirated meat section because it's about to go out of date. You know it will make you sick if you eat it, but it's cheap so you buy it anyway and hope for the best.

Why is Malzahn getting so much love from yall? Les's team kicked the shite out of his team. A couple lucky breaks in year one and now Malzahn is somehow second best in the league? I just don't see it.

Good thread, but I see it a little different. Winning is good but if you want to be on the top shelf with upper echelon programs any bowl is not good enough. The bowl must be a BCS bowl. His bowl bids are on a decrease, BCS championship bowl, chic fil a bowl and now the outback bowl.
You mentioned buffoonery, and doing things that make you cringe. Maybe that's the difference in him being just good and being great. A program like LSU should always be an expectation in bidding for the national championship. It should a shock that they didn't make it, rather than not being surprised at all that they didn't. The team lost games they should win and many of those games were lost due to buffoonery and doing things that makes you cringe.

Technically we increased from last year, so...

What buffoonery from Les Miles lost us the Ole Miss game?

I know you thought that was hilarious as you typed it out, but that was pretty fricking stupid. And sounds like you shop at Walmart

You must be one miserable son of a bitch. Normal people, as in 99% of the fans who watch college football know that's delusional. Hell, even the more intelligent Alabama fans know that's delusional. It's an impossible pipe dream and if you actually hold that as the standard for success in college football you should probably find another sport to watch because you will never see this in your lifetime.

Iowa had 9 guys in the box because we allowed them to have 9 guys in the box due to the 2 tight 2 back formation we love so much. Do we take advantage of the 1 on 1 coverage if Mett plays today? Who knows. I'm thinking probably not.
We would have killed Iowa with Mett
You must have been in a coma the last year

The best coach LSU has ever had now coaches for Alabama. I'd take Saban over Miles every day of the week.

Well feel free to go cheer for them. The results of the coaches tell a different story. Les is LSU's best coach, and there really isn't any debate based on the facts.

But, with him at the helm, we will never be better than the 5th team in a 4 team playoff.
Seems to me that with Les at the helm at LSU we've been good enough to be one of 2 teams in a 2 team playoff since 2007. In that time, only Nick Saban can say that and only Saban, Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel and Mack Brown can say that since Les arrived at LSU. And nobody with half a brain would take accept the position Brown, Tressel and Meyer put their programs in over the current state of LSU's program under Les Miles.

Not me. The guy walked away from my program and then walked away from my NFL team. I can accept losses. I can't accept rooting for a man who lacks character.

Dead on. Then they come to the rant after a close scrape and say things like "[Insert hot coach of the week] would never need a last minute drive to beat a team like ARKANSAS (angryface angryface angryface)." Well of course he did, you just weren't paying attention at the time.

Les Miles = Sausage
For example, this year they lost 11 starters to the NFL and - even though playing in the toughest division of the toughest conference and having one of the toughest schedules in the country - won 10 games (yet again) and a major bowl game.
Also this year, they were one defensive stop from beating UGA, and nearly took Ole Miss to OT.
They also were a fumble on Bama's 1 yard line and a phantom pass interference call away from being in the Bama game til the end.

This thread seems to have some great SEC-caliber coaches, just waiting for their chance to shine. Obvious from reading that many of the posters here could manage and run a top-notch football program better than Les Miles.
