Looks to me like Miles is just full of shite
He can't just come out and start shitting on his staff. Listening to him talk he KNOWS something is wrong, he's spending ZERO time talking defense other than "our players were playing hard" yet he's sitting here analyzing the delay of game call for 10 minutes...he knows there's something wrong.

I wouldn't expect him to. doesn't mean he feels they are not a problem. saying stuff like the d was prepared and the scheme is ok is what bothers me.

yeah .. it's called not hiring a defensive coordinator in the off season ..

Sheesh...Les "Master of Coach Speak" Miles
Posted on 10/13/08 at 12:47 pm to TigahRag
Exactly it is. I think he knows he screwed up and he knows the defense is in trouble. Do people expect him to come out and say "Yeah the defense is just absolutely terrible."? What would that do? Behind closed doors he knows something is wrong. Will he do anything about it? THAT is a different story.

If Les tanks it the rest of the season, without making changes, look for some de commits from the '09 class. Let's hope he was just spouting "coachspeak PC"

Lou T must be back calling the D.

you really think recruits are gonna de-commit because our D is shitty? Why wouldn't they wait to see if we make a d-coordinator change, or just say, hey, LSU's D is shite, I might be able to get some early playing time.

He was clearly trying to just talk positive. No sane person would sit there and talk about a damn kickoff false start that long if he wasn't avoiding something. He doesn't wanna call anyone out publicly yet but I think he realizes something has to be done. Lets hope the game makes him realize it.

is les supposed to throw the dc under the bus in a press conference? we do not know what he said to the dc behind closed doors...on lsusports.net and in the advocate he spoke about the defensive calls...believe me there is enough blame to go around - players and coaches...coaches coach and players make plays or not...not enough plays were made...miles will not bash his team or coaches in public...

no
but to admit that our defense needs work is a first step that nobody would disagree with
he didn't even do that
he said nothing was wrong. our scheme was what we wanted. our matchups were what we wanted. our lack of aggression is what we wanted

you have to remember this is the guy who once responded to my question about our net punting being almost last in the nation by saying that buster davis did well returning a punt for a TD

if this happened, why the frick hadn't it happened earlier, like after the Auburn game?

I got exactly what I expected outta this. Nothing earth shattering. I like how he did admit a problem with blown coverages, didn't think he would even admit that. I just don't see what saying anything in public would do.

With Miles loyalty, what on earth makes you peole think he's going to chew out his buddies?

Kids come to LSU to win NC's knowing they aren't going to start immediately, for the most part. Meyer, Mack Brown, Stoops, Saban are going to be all over this loss, pointing out the glaring problems. If it gets worse, you can bet there will be fallout.

They could think about playing time, or they could think about the fact that if they're a linebacker or safety to get matched up with one of the fastest receivers in football. Damn, how much does it take to know that Beckwith on Harvin is not a good matchup? Are these guys not thinking out there?
