Two more losses in the past two years than in his first three years combined?
Or, just one more loss THIS season than we had in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons.
And another bowl game win gives LSU a 10-3 record. We're all in agreement that the SEC is the best conference in the conference in the country, right? To take that claim further, it's possible the SEC West is the toughest division in college football (not every year, but this season and others).
LSU each year has to play Alabama, Auburn, ArKansas, Ole Miss and Miss. State. With Florida on the LSU sked. every year, they might as well be a division opponent for us. And as we all know, even after playing those schools and if you win the West, you still have to play the winner of the "other side" in the SECCG. In our case, Fla. (again). Which is why the winner of that contest is a virtual lock to earn a spot in the BCS Championship Game.
Yeah, Vandy was a cellar-dweller this season, but not every yr. (and they're on all SEC East teams' schedules each yr.). And a road game win at GA was a tough one. Next yr., Tenn. replaces GA, LSU plays at Vandy and again at Florida.
If you only want to compare LSU's SEC record over the past 2 seasons, it will always be 8-8. Let's spin it, though.
To really be negative, starting with LSU's loss at Fla. last season in Week 5, through the loss at Ole Piss this season, LSU's SEC record was 5-8.
Or how 'bout this: Starting with LSU's win over Kentucky in Week 7 of 2006, through the win over Georgia this season, LSU's SEC record was 18-7.
Or, just go ahead and total ALL SEC games in which LSU has played since Miles got here (including a win and a loss in 2 SECCGs), and LSU's SEC record is 28-14. No, that seems too positive. Don't want to have even a hint of that.

So now it's 0-2 against Florida, Alabama, and Ole Miss. Arkansas used to be on the list, but sadly for most people here they can't be used anymore. We took Arkansas off. Next season we'll take a couple of the others off or maybe even all 3. How is 8-5 to 9(10)-3 a decline?

It just amazes me hour these 1st time posters feel inclined to get on here and post pure garbage. We shouldn't even reply to this crap. The only thing in decline is your ability to create a decent thread.

I'm really tired of hearing people say they aren't comparing Miles and Saban...then throw out Miles SEC record v Sabans. When Saban was at LSU the SEC was down. Yes he is winning now at Bama, but while at LSU his biggest threat was Tubby who he could not beat every year. There was no Meyer or a Saban at another school. Florida was down with zook, Bama had Shula who Miles also beat regularly, UGA was still good, Ole Miss was weak...but Saban also lost to them, Moo State both coaches owned them, Uk was terrible but it took the Blue grass miracle for a Saban win, Ark was way down until they got Mcfadden...so the comparison of the two SEC records is not fair when you consider the changes made in the SEC over the last 10 years. The SEC was not the monster it is today!

So if LSU beats Fla. (without Tebow) next year (Saban was 2-3 against Fla.-even with Zook there for part of it); and if LSU beats Bama (I believe the games v. Bama the last three years were in doubt till the end-one victory, one overtime, and one with questionable calls and our true sophomore starting QB injured resulting in a loss), your theory is out, correct?
If we beat Ole Miss at home, does that change your belief? Suppose we win those three, but lose to West VA and Miss. State, will you complain about being 10-2 and going to the SEC CG?
LSU had an off year in 2008 because of the debacle of the co-defensive coordinators and no QB because of Perilloux. That was addressed and Jefferson will continue to improve. Here lies the dilemma. Those that think Jefferson is no good will no longer agree with my premise. Those that do like Jefferson as QB, will find error in another part of my post.
The point is that in the end, the record is all that matters. If we go 12-0 and still have penalties for delay of game or illegal procedure, fans will still complain. If Miles goes 10-3 and ends in the top ten, then "No, we are not in decline." If we beat the Fla., Bama, and Ole Miss and lose to two other SEC teams, then the same fans will complain that LSU can not go undefeated.
If Bama loses to Fla and then TCU or Cincy in the Sugar Bowl, Bama fans will criticize Saban for having the same failure two years in a roe. Bama fans will have similar meltdowns as our fans.
Next, LSU fans will call me a "Mom and Pop", "Old-timer" or some other same complaint I had when i was a student or new graduate towards fans over 35.
Look at this in context and don't judge a program over a two year period when one of them ends up with a top ten ranking. Look at Oklahoma this year after they lost their QB. Look at Michigan. Why do fans believe that even the best teams should never have off years?
Hello! Does anyone remember that the "greatest coach ever" (with Tebow) lost four games with Tebow as QB and as a Heisman trophy winner, in one year? Imagine losing four games with the Heisman trophy winner as QB. Was Meyer a bad coach?
Settle down. LSU is recruiting really well. The talent will still be coming. Coaching adjustments will continue to be made and LSU will continue to do well over all.
It's the number of wins, baby. Give it till next year. To those fans who hoped LSU would lose to Arkansas, thinking this would help LSU get rid of MIles, please step up and resign as an LSU fan.

I can't really argue this season...Bama and Fla dominated and everyone else really was an also ran, including LSU. And even Bama and FLA were/are questionable at times this year.

Next year will be a true indication of where our program is at.
Posted on 12/4/09 at 7:09 am to CM Tiger 222
You are officially wrong. We officially needed a great DC - got one. Officially need a great OC. Will get one. 9-3 with our schedule and losing close to AL and OM and less close to FL is not in decline. Is SC, OK, GA also officially in decline or had a bad year.

10 teams in bowl games
Posted on 12/4/09 at 7:41 am to CM Tiger 222
You people kill me I think you forget about the Curley Hallman days when we would have dreamed of going to a bowl game. I have come to one conclusion either you have become spoiled by the success that we have had through Saban and Miles or you guys and you should know who I am talking about starting pulling for LSU after the national championship in 2003. To all of true tiger that stick with the team through the good times and bad times You are the true tiger fans and not bandwagon jumpers like some of you are. I agree Les Miles might not be the best coach but he wins the games he is suppose to win and has not lost a bowl game since he has been to LSU. So as long as the LSU adminstration is committed to Les Miles as being the head coach I think all of us need to support our coach and not criticize him so much. Be thankful for what u fortunate to have because you may not always be so lucky. Geaux Tigers

Your ignorance of football, coaching, recruiting & competition is truly pathetic. Now go crawl back into your meth induced hole.
