re: Could Sirianni get fired?
Posted by Macavity92 on 1/16/26 at 3:43 pm to theCAW
Can’t see firing a coach who has been to two Super Bowls in five years, won one, and has a 70% winning percentage.
But I am not an Eagles fan, so, if they want to do it, they should go for it. Nick will be ok. I can think of 8 landing spots for him right now.

I'm not defending the current coach. I am assuming he is gone and that a search is underway behind the scenes.
I am talking about a new coach. I asked two simple questions that you did not answer. 1. Has Wade indicated he wanted to come back? 2. Why would he leave NC State for LSU? You didn't even try to answer either.

You do realize that the media blitz attacking Wade was put on by SEC coaches who were threatened by Wade! Nobody is threatened by the turd we have now.
The competence of our current HC is hopefully not the standard for the next one.
The rest of your statement is lunacy. Wade put himself in that position through a series of actions so stupid he ended up with a two-year show cause and a 10 game suspension when McNeese hired him.
Look, I am not disputing that he was better than the current guy, but that does not mean he should be the first call either. Either way, I cannot see him being interested in leaving NC State for LSU.

If Mark Few said he was tired of Spokane and really wanted to live in Baton Rouge, or if Tommy Lloyd said he preferred a humid heat to the dry heat of Tuscon, or if Bruce Pearl said he wanted to coach a different set of Tigers, or even if Nate Oats said he preferred purple to crimson, then there would be a different discussion as to Wade. But it's unlikely any of those guys would leave for LSU. Same for most really successful power conf. coaches. That's because this IS NOT football. (1) Power conf. poaching doesn't happen all that often in basketball in general and (2) LSU doesn't have the same market status in basketball that it does in footbal
Is there any indication Wade wants to return to LSU, especially given how the previous time ended and his current position at a school that places value on basketball?

No, but it is evidence that he is not necessarily the savior he is made out to be on this board.

With Wade as coach, LSU finished 9th, 1st, 2nd (COVID season), 3rd and 5th in the SEC. Only the team that finished 1st ended the season ranked. He only made it past the second round of the NCAA tourney once in four seasons (one of his 5 seasons the postseason was canceled).
In the year that they won the SEC they were 4-4 against ranked opponents.

Its why other countries hate Americans. We went with a group to Europe once, and several people wanted McDonald's for lunch.
The first thing we do with most new cities we visit, especially in Europe, is to take a food tour. You can try the local cuisine, learn a little local history, and find places to return to on that trip or later trips.
However, if I'm at a conference, and they're feeding me, I'll probably eat those meals so that I can network or catch up on work. I'm there for business. If I really want something local I'll probably come before the conference starts or stay a day or two after it ends.

Normal progression, right?
Eat right.
Gain a ton of weight.
Then start overeating. Makes sense.

When in job search mode, do you put more emphasis on who you work with or who you work for?
Make no mistake about it, the friction between Lamar and Harbaugh was one of the main reasons for the termination and the next coach will be vetted in part on his ability to coach Lamar. Baltimore has a good bit of future money tied up in his contract. Therefore, whether you keep your job will depend in large part on Lamar.

Unless he thinks he has a first round number, that Miami offer is hard to pass up. In 2025 the first pick of the second round was set to make just under $12M over 4 years and the first pick of the third round $6.7M over four years.

Correct. He had been indicted in I think it was 1984 but beat those charges. He was convicted along with his son later, making him ineligible for state elected office. He ran for U.S. Congress after his release and lost.

14 years between Graf and Navratilova, which is a better rivalry than Novak and Carlos.

Remember, Lane is getting bonuses from LSU for each Ole Miss win. As long as those boys are pulling sufficient double duty he’ll want them to stay.
re: Oil prices record steepest annual fall since Covid pandemic

Except that more goes into the price of gas than the price of oil. There’s state taxes, individual state emission standards, refinery capacity, to name a few.
Why do you think California gas prices are so much higher than Louisiana gas prices when the price of a barrel of oil is more or less the same in both states?

re: 12 Grapes at New Years tradition.

Was in Seville, Spain for this New Year’s. Was in Madrid 4 years ago for NYE. Had a great time both places.
The 12 grapes is real. They give them out at every New Year’s party. The tv countdown has chimes and an on screen visual count down as well. It’s one grape per chime and they need to be gone when the chimes are over. It’s a blast.
