Why is this reporter thinking anyone cares what Les Miles thinks about the oil spill in the gulf? As an LSU football fan, I would hope he's been nose to the grindstone for this 2010 team, and not sitting around watching CNN's poor coverage of this tragedy and forming detailed opinions to present to the media on a whim. Les is a football coach. I want to know about his football team. Ask a f'n LSU football question you moron masquerading as a reporter.

NOT a hard question to answer at all.

like:

quote:

families who towns are effected

trying to say: families whose towns are affected?

if you remove all of the uhhs and stammering, which I agree sound horrible and are the clear marks of a poor public speaker, Les essentially said:

The impact is being seen more on the coast and on the natural resources of the country as a whole.

He is not sure if the managment of the spill is being conducted well or not and is not going to comment further on that topic.

and

The oil spill, although it is affecting Louisiana is a more global disaster.

anybody hear the rest of the interview? he could've provided eloquent responses elsewhere, but the only soundbite to get out was a less than desirable answer to a somewhat baited question

No don't be mean to cops. They can tell time. He knew better than to ask Gary, which shows Les still has a spark of intelligence.

I wouldn't want cops to be lumped in with social miscreants, like football coaches and politicians.

Damn that was bad. For all the people defending him; you're right, it doesn't matter if he knows the effects of the oil spill. However as LSU's head coach, he is a very recognizable figure and him flubbing that question is embarrassing.

People are overreacting as usual and need to man up. Be a champion.

Someone should play that clip and show him skipping up the sideline during the Ole Miss game. He has some public speaking issues that seem to make "slick" coaches seem smarter.

Thank you Captain Obvious. It wasn't a hard question to ask or answer, what's alarming is that he can do neither. The average person would be able to do that in a snap, even with a camera in their face. The fact that our head coach- at $4M a year and heading up an $80M franchise, can't somehow put the sentences together- alarms people...this really shouldn't surprise you.

I wouldn't expect him to know a whole lot but to limit it to "along the shore" and not mention economic disaster for La. in terms of fishermen and offshore workers...wow.

Norman? Is he related to Albert?

By the way, just got a really nice e-mail from a Texas alum. Attached is a thread with the Miss South Carolina clip and Les's quote. I can tell from the e-mail string that it was passed around half of Texas before it got to me.

Although it was certainly not eloquent, and he needs to learn how to think without sayin Uhhhh, he did manage to answer a potentially politically charged question with vauge terms.

He effectively stayed off a follow up question of "how do you think the situation is being managed" and expressed both concern for Louisiana and a concern for those affected by the spill outside of Louisiana.

Exactly plus Les has been doing his part in trying to help. Not a great answer but it is a poltical momefoield in some regards.
