Does Saban get credit for 2001? I'm sure you credit him with that SEC title and Sugar Bowl victory, right? Did we not back into that game in 2001 with THREE SEC losses, one of which was a prison style raping by Rex Grossman and Florida in Death Valley? It's either a championship or it isn't.
2002 we lost to a shitty arknsas and bama team. that offense was worse than anything les miles has put on the field. Saban cost us another sec title that year by kicking the fg instead of putting arkansas away.
But i wouldnt expect most on here to remember that since it seems like they became fans after 2007.

It is simply about expectations. I think being in the hunt for SEC titles, National Championships and being highly ranked is what many teams fans would give their left nut for. Content or satisfied may not be the right words.
The people that are only satisfied with National Championships are going to be disappointed way more often than they will be pleased.
Just win is the answer. If you win enough, long enough you will be in contention to win it all.

Therefore he qualifies as a NC type coach.
Going forward how many NC's do you think we win? Let's say the next seven years?

I think all teams' fans and ADs for that matter should have this "NC or bust" attitude.
How crazy would the coaching changes board be every year with 119 FBS HC vacancies?

Your assumption that LSU can just go out and hire a coach that is guaranteed to win multiple NCs is not reality. There is a reason why only a handful of coaches have won more than 1 NC ... it's hard to do. For every Saban and Meyer, there are hundreds of coaches who won't ever sniff a NC.
Start firing coaches for winning 10+ games but not multiple NCs and you'll have a shitty program in no time flat. Yeah, it sucks to have Saban coaching in the same division as LSU. It cost us a NC last year and we'd be a SECCG win away for a chance to repeat this year.
No school can afford to replace good coaches every few years for not winning multiple NCs.

Awful comparison. Please DIAF.

Meh, he's not going back to the NFL. He knows that was a mistake. And he's got the set up at Alabama. Why leave?
But I do agree that we'll try to throw some cash at him if Miles leaves before him

Miles would be the perfect coach if he would just unplug his headset come game time. I don't think anyone discounts his ability to recruit top talent to LSU. Players seem to genuinely want to play for him. But I'm not just gonna forget what happened 1/9. Absolutely no excuse for that.

So you mean to tell me, no matter who the coach is, if he doesn't win a NC he needs to be fired?
I've never said that.
No I do not think Les should be fired.
However, if he would have left I wouldn't have been butthurt like the poeple that love our chance to play in Chicken sandwich bowl

Let's look at it this way:
In the 75 years the AP Poll has been around, LSU has finished ranked in the top 10 - 20 times. Of those 20, 5 of them were by Les Miles coached teams. That means that he has 25% of the top 10 finishes while only being the coach here 9% of that time period.
We were averaging a top 10 finish once every 4.5 years before Les, and now with Les we average a top 10 finish once every 1.4 seasons.
In that 75 years, we have finished in the top 5 - 9 times. Of those 9, 3 of them were by Les Miles coached teams. That means that he has 33% of the top 5 finishes while only being the coach here 9% of that time period.
We were averaging a top 5 finish once every 11.33 seasons before Les, and now with Les we average a top 5 finish once every 2.33 seasons.
Since Les has been at LSU, 9 different programs have played in the bcs championship game with 5 different winners (Texas, Florida, LSU, Alabama, Auburn.) Of these 9 programs only 5 have played in it twice: Texas, Ohio St, Florida, LSU and Bama.
Yeah all we are doing is getting 2-3 loss seasons and playing in non bcs bowls.

atleast 1. I cant really say past next year, a lot of turnover will happen with players, and we still dont know what we have behind mett. Also will guys like chavis and wilson still be around? No telling. But i do know miles will continue to do his best and hopefully hire the rt guys and continue recruiting very well.

I used up all my crystal ball magic in trying to come up with Powerball numbers last night...so I don't fricking know for sure.
However, I'd say that given the state of the program and the classes both on campus and in line to get here, we'll be in a position to compete for both SEC and National Titles every season. The point is to position your program so that they are always in the discussion...always right in the thick of it...always there late.
Sometimes things will work out and you'll make it and win it...sometimes you won't.
That's the way competition in all sports works.

I just think he's not a NC type coach. Yea won one but we all know we lucked into that game. After finally having the big season last year, like we all knew we could, Les lays the big egg on 1/9. Still pisses me off.

I just love the gif because it effectively sums up my 2009/2010/2011 frustrations. Miles did start him for that long, after all.

We didn't only lose to bama at home. Lost 31-0.
And the arky game was to go to ATL for the SEC. Saban a defensive coach let Matt jones march down in three plays. But no one seems to remember that. I'm still pissed about that game.
