What was our error? Not the Berry foul pop, was it the Thompson infield fly derp? Or another greatness?

You keep attributing opinions to me that I haven’t given.
Berry might be Thompson’s best man at his wedding for all I know. I’m not saying he doesn’t like the guy.
What I’m saying is that Jay had repeatedly demonstrated that he will start good offensive players regardless of their defensive capabilities. Once that is known it de-emphasizes the whole teams defensive work load. So short cuts get taken or defensive work is passed up altogether in favor of more swings.
Then you get what we’re seeing. It’s very obvious that very little attention has been spent on defense by these guys and that comes from the top down.
