Oxford is a great away game weekend atmosphere. Despite what some in BR think, the Grove is a lot of fun. Oxford has some pretty good bars (much better than BR) and the small, college town feel is excellent.

It's a top 5 SEC experience.

Well, we're not going to agree on that. It's at the very most the third best version of its own bit.

To each their own though. I find the om fans exponentially better guests than hosts. They're my favorite bunch to visit br.

What SEC opponents make for great road trips? The only road game I've been to was for UF and it was pretty awesome.

You've already been to the best one. Georgia is pretty cool, too. Kentucky is a surprisingly good one, but now we'll only play there and at Georgia every 12 years or so, so you should take advantage of the opportunity this year to go to Athens. Tennessee is a good trip overall, but the stadium atmosphere is underwhelming considering how big it is.

In the West, outside of LSU, there's really only one that's close in terms of atmosphere and the people, and that's Auburn. You'd expect Alabama to be great, but it's really disappointing. The Grove at Ole Miss is overrated...by a lot. I haven't been to Fayetteville since 1992, so maybe it's better now. Starkville is friendly and not bad. College Station is a huge, flat empty space filled with concrete and grass and absolutely no atmosphere. In the stadium is better because they are loud and have a lot of standardized yells and things that the whole stadium does.

You're not going to find anywhere (other than LSU) that compares to your experience at Florida, though. Those two are head and shoulders above all the rest in the SEC...or anywhere else.

I lived in Lexington for 5 years, in the mid 70's It truly sucked at the time. It may be better now but I would to have to wait & see.

I'm not sure what you did in Tuscaloosa. Outside of LSU, it's the best tailgaiting in the conference. Great college town. Awesome bars and nice campus. The stadium atmosphere is great.

There's a lot to like about that place.

Lately Oxford hasn't... But when om is decent, it's hard to beat.
Square is pretty fun, fans for the most part hate our guts. :lol;

Been most except Ark, State, and A&M, but really didn't care for USCe the fans were pretty nasty where we were; Gumpland is pretty good had a nice time in 11 except the 2 (fine) chicks that cursed us after LOL! UF is good although had some obnoxious folks around in 10; Been a few times to Athens and last time 09 was fun had nice interaction with their folks, beautiful campus and scenery! OM is fun and scenery also!

It's certainly ugly as all hell, but the Northgate area was pretty salty as far as sec bar strips go.

Gainesville= Chocolate mushrooms and a lady cop I mistook for a stripper. Pulled over on the way back to BR, and cop didn't search the car. Surfed in Jacksonville during the four day weekend.

A+++

Tuscaloosa= Went several times. Dated a girl from the area. Was on ESPN's Cold Pizza. Have a picture from the "frat lane" the day after with all the pledges picking up a trashed yard, and us honking at them. They, in turn, flipped the bird.

A+++

Auburn= Again, went several times. Kinda in the middle of nowhere. Skybar is cool, but that's about it. But, you can get rowdy.

A+

Oxford= Made me hate Mississippi even more.

A

Starkvegas= Stayed for four days, and enjoyed every second. Let us smoke cigs in the stands. It was a Thursday game, and wasn't sober til getting back to BR on Sunday.

A+

Little Rock= If I heard another, "That's another Arkansas Razorback FIRST DOWN", I was gonna go ballastic. We lost, and there wasn't even bourbon in Little Rock to keep us from sulking.

B+

Morgantown= Best five day trip. Hands down. Those people know how to have a good time. Drank three kinds of moonshine.

A+++

Dallas= Oregon game. Dude brought a duck caller and we approached Oregon "tailgates" and messed with them. Snuck bourbon into JerryWorld.

A++

Road games are all about the experiences, and the people you're with. You can enjoy yourself anywhere, but some places more than others.

Athens - you can stay at a hotel close enough to walk to the bars on Friday night and to the tailgates on game day.

Some of my favorite student memories were going to away games. It's something you must take advantage of while in school. To spend a weekend getting rowdy on another college campus is such a great experience. They're all worth visiting, but Athens takes the cake for me.

I've been to Florida three times. My latest experience was great. To say that LSU and Florida are head and shoulders above everyone else is a little ridiculous.

As far as a complete away game weekend experience, I would have BR behind, at least, Athens and Tuscaloosa.

Florida is probably 6th after Athens, Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Oxford, and BR.
