I don't ever immerse myself into predictions because there is a large margin for error. I base my thoughts off of what I can know. What I know is that our offensive line is bigger and that a few players that underperformed last year will no longer be starting. I know that bigger lines can generate greater penetration and open bigger holes for RBs. I know that an improved running game benefits quarterbacks. I also know that a bigger line can pass protect for longer. However, I also knows that we have green WRs. All this leads me to expect a modest improvement in the offense...
What I know of the defense is that our secondary is sensational, Kelvin Sheppard is an All-SEC MLB, and our other starters have shown great things on special teams... though they have little experience in the position. I also know that we may have trouble on the D-line but that our DTs are very strong and Rahim Alem is no longer a liability on that side of the ball.
Overall, I expect our offensive rushing attack to vastly improve, our passing attack to moderately improve, our defensive secondary to impose their will on anyone they play, though we may be susceptible to the run.
All in all, considering the schedule, we'll be looking at a crisper team though I will not speculate on what this means in terms of statistics or winning %
I respect that!

Jazz you gotta realize that some of these people not only believe that LSU is going to win the SEC this year
I do believe they win the West...don't know after that. God forbid there's any optimism on this board. If there is we all know ya'll will be quick to try to stomp it out.

Auburn will be better in 2010 as well as MS State
so you're basing all of your logic into the fact that two teams in the west will be better. Sounds like you're the retard mr hot shot. Im actually basing my logic on what happened in the past. You don't have numbers to back up your claim i do.

LSU Football Program Future
is without Miles.

Will be the same as it has been the past few years, barring a QB epiphany. Somewhere between 3-5 losses.

5 losses, 4 losses, 3 losses..
I'd be happy with 10-3 and top-10 in the nation.

IMHO, With no proven QB an coaching concerns, LSU football will take a significant downward turn in 2010. Tell me why I'm wrong.? And please don't respond by saying "but we have Russell Shepard" Duh!
Not only a :beatdeadhorse:
But a German :beatdeadhorse:

Guy's let it go. Flynn is gone! If JJ can't get it done, we are in for a long season. I hope he will improve but I have not seen it yet.

Assuming Wilkerson has been involved, I expect our o-line will be better coached in 2010. that could make a difference, especially if some of our RBs step up (still to be seen IMO). If we get some traction in our running game to take some pressure off JJ, he might improve some in 2010 (I won't write off the season based on the spring game).
Assuming a graduate assitant who has never coached a down of college football is going to make a difference is an enormous leap of faith. The job of a grad assistant is usually to be a gopher and LEARN how to coach. If you think he's going to overide Stud on who plays or install technique not coached by Stud, you're dreaming.
I will give you that he may be able to help instill some intensity which, in and of itself, would be a big help.

1) Defense should be even better in the second
year under chavis. Follow pelini, saban,
strong, and their defenses improve in their
second year. If they stop the run and have
a better pass rush. look for more turnovers
with one of the better secondaries in the
country. ***turnover margin is the most
influential statistice resulting in the
outcome of a game.
2) A bigger and stronger offensive line. An
improved running game helps jefferson in the
passing game.
3) We will have a full back, something we didn't
have last year. People underestimate this
position. it's crucial to the run game and
pass protection.
4) The first time in four years (2006) we will
have a returning starter at qb. Jefferson
is not and will not be peyton manning.
however, he performed well enough last year
and with any improvement, he will be a qb
that can get the job done. There has been
a lot of good teams over the years w/o a
great qb. bama, nebraska, lsu, tenn, ohio
st,ect.
5) The overall talent of the team is better this
year than the previous two years. Miles first
two years we had a lot of attrition in the
o-line and qb positions. The lack of o-line
talent has affected the d-line talent. Joe B.
would have been a good run stopper d.t. The
o-line talent appears to be better this year
along with f.b., d.e., and c.b., (w.r., lb.,
and safety appear to be as good as in years
past. d.t. is the position of concern.
6) Special teams. we may have the best kicker
in the s.e.c.. We have one of the better
punters in the s.e.c. and peterson appears to
be a very good returner.
7) Bill G. influence on the offense/Russell
Shepard. Lining him up in the slot,
qb/wildcat, and r.b. positions will bring a
lot of diversity to the offense and bring
a lot of confusion to the defense.
8) The players will be able to play and not
think. They aren't learning a new offense or
defense this year. Stability in the
coordinators will be beneficial.
overall i believe the team is better this year. will it result in a different record? not sure. we do play a more difficult schedule.
As to the coaching concerns, i'm not. If these coaches were good enough to win a n.c. and only lose a total in six games in three years; then they have proven, when the talent level is right, they can get the job done.

We trended upwards from 2008 in 2009. There is no reason to think we can't have a good season. 4 out of the 5 season Miles has been the coach ended in final rankings of 1,3,5 and 17. I don't understand this idea that it is more likely for us to be absolutely horrible than one of the best teams in the SEC.
